    It has been a very constructive test given how little time we had to prepare for it following the team's entry into the A1 Grand Prix series, and we leave Paul Ricard with a pretty good idea of how the car works and reacts to set-up changes. Ralph drove well and with strong consistency, which is essential at this, level, and it's clear we are in the mix towards the front of the field, which is where we aim to be. Michael Devaney did a very solid job given that this was his first outing in the car and he had very limited running. The series is going to be very competitive and when you look at the quality of the driving talent you can see that in terms of competition to win races this is going to be quite a battle.

    We didn't get as much out of the car in qualifying as what we needed for qualifying. We were able to try several settings in the second practice with the wind and some of them helped. We want to be prepared for any kind of conditions in the race. Last year, we had some trouble early, but that was a freak deal. This year is a whole another year. Now we'll be ready for the race. We were able to run some race setup in practice with full tanks. I was pleased with the car in that configuration. We just couldn't get the speed for qualifying. Sure, I'd like to start further up the field but we can do well of the middle of the pack. The race is much different than qualifying.


    It took a couple races, but for the most part, this Pontiac GTO has been something special, ... This is the best racecar I've ever had and we were in trouble before we got it. It's a dream to drive right now and that's the way my car was last year. The GT

    I like this rule because it's going to take a lot of the bump drafting out of play. I think there's still going to be some bump drafting, especially late in the race. But I think it will make guys have to think a little bit more about how they pass. That goes back to the type of drafting I learned early on. We used the air to push the cars around instead of the bumpers. I like that type of drafting, and I'm curious to see how we'll manage it.




    From a strategic point of view, this sale allows them to narrow the spotlight on being a maker of premium cars. There was some haste to get this done and had they had more time and a relaxed schedule to get this done, they might have been able to get more for the business.

    It was my mistake. I feel bad for the team. Today was our first opportunity to get on the pole and I made a little mistake. We felt we had a car to compete for the pole, but we'll try to get it (Saturday).



    There was a lot of action going on out there for sure, ... But we just had so much push in the car toward the end I could hardly keep it on the track in the banking. The team performed well, and I'm pleased with the result tonight.
