Greg Biffle Quotes (68 Quotes)

I really enjoy running the Busch car. I have a lot of fun with it, and the more seat time I can get, the better. I hate it when there is a race going on and I'm not out there in it.

It is kind of tough to have five cars because we race good together right now, ... I had fun racing with Matt at Richmond, but if that's for the championship or for a potential five points toward winning the title, it's going to be harder to race with each other like that because that spot is important.

Right in the rule book, clearly, 'any device or anything that alters the height of the car beside the jack bolt' which you put the (wrench) down in and turn and (it) raises and lowers the car 'is illegal.'

I doubt whether we'll have five cars in the Chase this year.

I think (Tony Stewart) is clearly the one we're going to be chasing, ... That team has figured out something that has made them pretty good at these places.

I've got a car that's as good as my teammates are and they're out there running out front, but I just wasn't in the right position. I was just kind of taking it easy there and the motor gave up. It had been vibrating for a little while. We've got a chronic vibration issue. I don't know, sometimes it makes a difference and sometimes it doesn't, but obviously today it did.

We share information really well together all the teams do and we give each other racing room, ... It's fun to race with Matt and these other guys. Man, it's just unbelievable that our cars run this good.

It's definitely had an effect today. I mean, we're making changes on the car and we go back out and make another run and it's slower. So it's like it should have been faster, but it's slower, so it's really hard right now.

Then you have to answer to your car owner, you have to answer to the sponsor, you have to answer to all these folks why you're not racing. But that's the only way it will ever stop.

Of course I watch the Panthers, but I want the Seahawks to win the race. See, I'm thinking about racing.

We hadn't been that good. I hadn't been real comfortable in the car and we didn't leave ourselves enough time to switch to qualifying trim and just was kind of disorganized and didn't get a good fast lap in (during practice).

It was clear we had a winning car. Some of the lapped cars were being tough to pass. I put them down a lap early. Our car was so good, and our car was still really good (when he crashed).

It was time to reestablish my dominance, ... in NASCAR, as well as in Roush Racing. The way things are going, I might be the only guy left in Roush come next season. I'm the main man in Roush. Ask anybody, except Kurt Busch, Mark Martin, Carl Edwards, and Matt Kenseth.

Biffle was really excited following him and that sounds kind of funny, ... Don't get me wrong, I was going to pass him if I could, but I was real excited following him ... thinking about him winning and that it would mean a lot to him.

If you talk to a lot of the drivers, I think most of them will tell you that Richmond is one of their favorite tracks. It's just a driver's track. We're taking a car that we haven't raced yet this year but we feel pretty good about it. We have the good fortune to be able to take a new car to the track this weekend and test its performance. Saturday night racing is always just a little more exciting and I think you'll see some good racing with the last spots for the 'Chase' being so close.

I like a little bit looser car. So we're able to make changes for a driver's style and I think we're going to lose a lot of that, maybe, in the future.

He just ran into the back of me and turned me into the fence. It's a little bit of a give-and-take game out there. If you get a run on somebody down the straightaway, you can't just run into the back of them because you are faster than them.

Everybody is going to have the same thing. To me, that's going to be disastrous. I've heard all secondhand information. I haven't sat down and said, 'What exactly are we going to be able to do' but I heard that we're not going to be able to do this, we're not going to be able to do that.

It was hard to tell a lot of difference between the two cars. The balance seems really good on it, and I'm real happy with it so far.

I'm not feeling as optimistic, obviously, but Tony and Jimmie got in a little tangle earlier this season at Phoenix and Tony got wrecked, ... The other thing is, is they have had really flawless runs, and Phoenix is a little bit more of a hazard than Homestead, so to speak. But anything can happen. Jimmie has not run that well at Phoenix if he ends up 18th, I win the race, Tony gets crashed or something happens to Tony Stewart 's car, that puts us right in the position with having to beat them by only about five spots (at) Homestead to win the title. You know, that is what it's going to take. So I'm saying we're not out of it, but, you know, our hopes are not like they were.

I don't really want to win races like that. That doesn't take a whole bunch of talent to knock a guy out of the way. Racing tight is one thing, but to get a run in the middle of the corner and get the guy's bumper all at once - it is what it is.

Obviously, you've got to make the chase first, so first things first - get in the chase. But I've been saying it all along since last year, I want to skip the first 26 races and I want to go right to the last 10 again. That's where they pay the money. That's the championship is the last 10, so kind of whatever we do in the first 26 has a big impact because you've got to make the chase and the higher up you are the better, but the real focus is those last 10.

Just didn't have anything left on them. I thought I was going to hit the fence, wasn't sure which way I was going to hit the fence, but was able to get it back together about mid-pack and work my way back to second.

It was clear that we had a winning car. When all you have to do is lift on the gas pedal and elect not to run into the car in front of you on the straightaway, that's pretty unforgivable. You've got to have a little bit of respect for the other drivers you're racing with, and Kurt hasn't shown respect.

I was just loose all day, ... I thought I might have too much rear spring for it and it kind of took a dive for life and put some rubbers in the left-rear spring and put some wedge in it for that last run and it just killed my car.

People are starting to feel the pressure. You've got to get into the chase. I think that's got people on alert of having to drive hard. Some guys are driving over the head. Some veterans, I think, are driving over their head a little bit.

We can't dwell on the past. We just have to bounce back at Phoenix. Our goal now is just try to make the top 10 (by the second Richmond race).

I think the biggest thing is gaining the respect from all the guys who are already there. And the Cup cars are a lot different from what they've been driving. That's challenging. Longer races. When to race and not to race. All stuff you have to learn, and it takes a while to learn it. It worked out for us pretty well. A lot of the drivers can make that transition. But you just never know.

It's neat for Kyle to win, ... I think you'd have sympathy for anybody if you put yourself in that situation and got taken out of the race car. But I have absolutely no information about what was going on.

Vegas is definitely a place where we can win. We had a good run here last year, and I feel even more confident about the car we're taking this time. We're taking the car that we raced in California two weeks ago, and it was obviously a good car.

The competition has caught up. It's clear that Tony Stewart and all those teams -- which keep in mind, they were all right there, second, third, fourth, when I was winning those races -- so they are the ones kind of getting a couple of the wins and we are right behind them. So we are not that far off. We're just not dominating like we were.

Don't get me wrong, ... I was going to pass him if I could. But you have a lot of time to think around here and I was just picturing him buckled down in that race car giving it all he's got, just thinking about him winning. I'm probably as happy as he is that he won today.

A couple of young guys came in and did really well, so then everybody thought, x27OK, it's all these young guys now as the new thing,

It's frustrating. It kind of drains you, but I've got to be optimistic about our season. It's unfortunate because this is how we make our living, too. It's a big payday, big PR to come and win a race like California Speedway and lots of points on the line.

That got me up in the fence, and then my car wouldn't go. That knocked the toe out of it, but I guess it's a good thing it happened then and not in the middle of the race.

It's going to be easy to make up the first six spots. The next six are going to be tougher.

We'll just try to get as many points as we can and hope that Ryan makes a few more wrecks and we can gain some positions,

It's gonna be like this for the next few years, I think,

The odds are that one of us may have some trouble along the way.

You wouldn't see him doing that in the middle of the race. Eventually, the guy on the bottom is going to prevail. If we would have had three more laps, he wouldn't have been able to hang there.

It was clear that we had a winning car.

Just 10 points a race isn't going to do it, and what are the chances of me finishing second for the next six races We can only do as good as we can do and can't really worry about the outcome of the 20.

That's all the practice we get for the entire weekend I have got to figure everything out Shocks, springs, sway bars different combinations of shocks and springs. What if I want to do some tire-pressure information Is a higher tire pressure better Lower These shocks with these springs We can take a full day and try and science-out all these things and narrow it down to a really fine line. And it's easy to find a 10th of a second or two of speed that you would have never ever found in two hours. Not even possible of finding in two hours.

They've got their work cut out for them if they're going to get under my skin. You can clearly see guys, the minute they get upset about something or get something in their head, they go crazy. There are two guys in the Chase like that. It's funny to see.

I've qualified second I don't know how many times. Qualifying isn't my strong suit.

It doesn't matter much where you start. Obviously, you don't want to start clear at the back of the pack, but once you're back six or eight spots, it's almost all the same.

I know the 24 came down and kind of gave me a door slam down the backstretch.

If you give him the right car and the car is balanced properly, it's got the right aero numbers and all that, and then he's got to drive it, that makes it much easier to bring a guy in and be competitive right off, ... I'm excited that we're able to do that as a company, to be able to provide Carl with such a great opportunity. And he's taken advantage of it.

We got ourselves into a little bit of a hole in Daytona but I have no doubt that this team will turn it around this weekend. We're taking a car that's already been to victory lane and we think it's going to perform even better this season. Here it's a who

His car was similar to mine when he won Atlanta versus me finishing third, and it was just who was in front. It was merely track position at the end of the race, so he's got the ability to drive the race cars.
