    These are not friends. These are people who have business with the government. Governor Taft has talked about the principles of ethics in government, but it's unfortunate he chooses not to live by them.

    Governor Taft has presided over a Republican culture of corruption in Columbus that includes pay-to-play schemes with lobbyists and workers' compensation funds being funneled to the president's re-election campaign.

    The Taft name has always meant men who are conservative, even stodgy, but always ethical. These investigations are a blow to the magic of the great family name.

    Paul Hackett put his whole reform idea on the map nationally, but now but you've got people like Gov. Bob Taft and Bob Ney, the congressional portal into a corrupt system, who really have to go. The wheels are starting to turn.





    As the disgraceful Taft administration finally comes to a close, it is time for the governor to be honest about the true state of the state here in Ohio ... His remarks won't bring jobs back to the state, improve our under-funded and failing schools, clean up the Republican culture of corruption in Columbus or ensure a better life for Ohioans that are struggling to make ends meet.
