    There is a certain kind of respect for authenticity today that there wasn't back in the days when they did 'Cleopatra,' where everything looked like a giant motel. People want to have it be authentic in the look, and authentic in the way people behave.

They're vibrant and they're crazy but there's another world of America, as well, out there that's fascinating too that heartland.


    I loved the character, but the challenge, to me, became making this character exactly new and modern in exactly the same behavior and language that was already done, ... Because she wanted to be married, she wanted to risk everything to be with this man, and oftentimes, women are so willing to give and give and give and give, and actually receive so little. And this guy comes in once every couple of weeks and has sex with her in a motel room. This is not a guy to steal 400,000 for.




    These men both publicly and privately have done so much for me. Without Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick I would be living in a little motel just around the corner here, trying to make ends meet.

    I don't know of any wrestler who hasn't, at one time or another, been with a fan. One time I met a woman at a match in Tennessee, and afterward we went to a little roadside motel. We checked in, went to the room, and enjoyed each other for an hour or so.

    He was around here for a couple of weeks. Everything seemed normal. He just tended to himself. What can you do It's the nature of the business. People want a room, and you don't know much about them. He was just a normal guy around the motel. We would never have suspected anything.
