    Kyle's been our top pitcher all year, but we just had a rough start to the season behind him. After the first inning, I knew he was on. The plan was to have him go five, then bring in Jake Bowman, but he was right there. We needed a boost, and he gave it to us.

    One guy, Speedy Claxton. He reminds me a lot of him. You ask how does a guy 5-10 make it to the NBA That's the kind of things Speedy did. He's the only other person I've seen do that. That's why he's special. A lot of guys say, 'I'm a point guard. I set people up, that's what I do.' Kyle's a ballplayer. He says 'I'll do anything I have to do'...     I fully support Kyle's decision. He is working hard to prove himself as an NBA player and he also has the option to return for his junior year. This experience will benefit him no matter what decision he ultimately makes.

    We are extremely pleased to extend Kyle's contract for three additional seasons, ... Kyle is a big, strong, punishing defenseman who is trending up in his career and he will continue to be one of our anchors on the back end.


    Clearly, Kyle's ability to lead as a quarterback eventually will stem from his productivity. Like any leader, that's what he'll be held accountable to. What we have to make sure is we're holding him accountable for those things he can control and holding others accountable for what is going on around him.

    People take for granted the skill involved in holding the football. Kyle's doing a great job, but it took us a series of weeks to develop that chemistry. We're still working on it. How many receivers drop the ball Holders are never allowed to drop it.

    Kyles in better shape than a lot of these guys here and thats what I pointed out to them. A guy who doesnt have to be here and is here, and in better shape than some of the other players, is a credit to him. I think some of those guys have to look at him and see a player whos here who doesnt have to be here and in the shape that hes in now.



    Kyle's starting to get up there where Ken (Dorsey) was. Ken didn't care what people thought of him he'd get in your face, grab you by the jersey and such. Kyle's getting to where he doesn't take anything from receivers, or from any of us, yet he's very professional in doing it.


    Many members of the Wharton Republican Club were very close to Kyle and his family and wanted to do something to both help the family and honor Kyle's memory. The Wharton Charity Pub Crawl was born.
