The more we can go out and play and compete, the better we will be. We'll have regular 12-minute quarters in the first half and we'll have 12-minute quarters in the second half but probably with a running clock. We might change that to make it more competitive.

It's a little bit like our situation in that all three of our running backs are a little different in the way that they run, the way they attack, the power, that kind of thing, ... When you look at what they've done running the football, I think you've got to feel like they're doing something right.

You had to make sure, particularly this first year here, that we had to fill our needs. For the most part, I think we hit right on.

Right now, we're undefeated. I'm more excited about a spring than I've been in a long, long time. (But) we've got a long way to go. We're a little bigger, a little stronger, hopefully a little quicker. We've helped ourselves with the seven (new) guys that are in here right now and the younger guys are a little more mature in how they handle themselves.

We have to worry about us. We can't worry about anybody else until we get ourselves fixed.

I think it's important that we get the right guy who can come in here and recruit and just continue doing the things that we're doing. The mistake would be to rush into something. We're fine this thing is going to keep on going at the same speed. We're not going to slow down a bit. I don't foresee any change at all.

It was not bad, it was really a pretty good practice, but we can be better. We're at the point where we need to stress to be as good as we can be all the time.

You look at that first half, and we were awful, ... We weren't pretty at times, but we're going to be a better team than people think we are.

Every play on special teams is a nightmare. Cal comes after the punt. They're like sharks smelling blood right now. They will come after us and try to do the same thing.

That's something that we're going to have to continue to improve on it's something that we need. It's close contact, usually you don't get many injuries there. It's a drill where the defense has got to learn to separate and the offense has to accelerate their feet and just keep doing it.

He hasn't made the strides that I'd like to see in the weight room. That's impossible. He's burning the candle at both ends. It's important that he has a very good summer in the weight room and get a little bit stronger.

I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate and respect these players,

I just told them we're not ready to play, but then again we don't have to be ready to play. We still got some time, so we've got to continue to improve and get better.

These guys are in as good a shape as they've ever been in their lives, there's no question about that. What happens is the expectation is that we're going to go out, we're going to go through practice and just get through it. As far as we've got to go, we can't do that. In my mind the game's tomorrow. It's not in September it's tomorrow.

I don't think it's done, but we've had some examples where we feel we've made some strides in that regard, ... Winning is a habit. Unfortunately, so is losing. ... We've put ourselves in some situations the last two ballgames that you don't necessarily want to be in, but yet they hung in there, so I've got to believe some of it's getting through.

We had opportunities to stand up and make plays and we just didn't do it. I'm tired of it. I know the coaches are tired of it, and I know a lot of guys in that locker room are tired of it.

A lot of guys would get into his situation and their confidence would be shot and it would hard to get anything out of them. But he was able to forget it all and I'm proud of him for that.
