How’s the wind, Skipper?
“It’s nobbut a leet air;
If it doan’t freshen
You’d like to cuss?
Well, a fluky wind
Wean’t shift for us.”
How’s the wind Skipper?
“Abeam, a soldier’s wind;
Drizzle not wanted?
We’ll have to steam a log:
Nobody yet cleared
Away a thick fog.”
How’s the wind Skipper?
“Ahead an’ blowin’ hard;
Doan’t like her way
Of pitchin’ about?
Tide against wind
Wean’t hark to owt.”
How’s the wind Skipper?
“All up an’ down her mast;
Order a true wind
As long as you please,
No one yet bossed
Four winds or seven seas!”
