    I've really got no complaints about the way I played, just extremely frustrating with the putter and I'm sure there's a lot of other players saying the same thing except the guy who's going to win the golf tournament.

    On the first day, Luke was steady. He came back even steadier on the second day. In golf terms, he hit the fairways with consistency. He hit 25 of 36 greens and the greens were pretty challenging. They had cut them and then they double cut them so they would be a little bit quicker.

    Paul Casey, who played in front of Mickelson's group with Langer, watched the putt from the scoring trailer. Bernhard was giving me the line, ... I wished he'd given me a few lines during the round. Phil helped me enormously when I was at Arizona State. Ernie had an unbelievable round of golf but Phil just finished it in style.

    As you can see from my results, it's affecting me quite a bit, which is normal. It's bound to. My golf is not really at the top of my list. But at the same time, I'm not just going out to make up a number. I want to try and compete.

    Whitney played extremely well in the U. S. Amateur before she started college golf. She beat a lot of really accomplished players, which was really a testament to her abilities.


    It's kind of unfortunate the way it's set up, that so many guys do seem to putt out sort of the week of the golf tournament. It makes it difficult for guys like myself to just get there and be ready and prepared.



    I think tomorrow is a toss-up. The International team is very strong, 12 of the best players in the game. They are extremely tough and are playing some extremely good golf. I feel the American team is playing exceptional golf, as well. I have faith in my team. But we have a lot of work ahead of us.

    You look at the golf course and think it's easy because it's short. But it's not easy, and when the wind blows like it did today, it sure isn't easy.

    This is one of the better rounds I've played here. The course was pretty tough from the get-go. I played really good golf. I didn't struggle. It wasn't difficult for me to shoot 67. I left a lot of shots out there.




    It's a question now of there being life after golf. I'd like to try and get back onto the European Tour fulltime again. But if that doesn't happen, I'll be happy to stay in South Africa and play the circuit here. I'm a family man and I have a good support base here.


    I don't know if it was easier. I think the golf course was pretty tough from the get-go. If you don't hit good shots, you're going to make a number out there.



    At times we can be a little inconsistent. If we concentrate on managing the golf course a little more, we'll find ourselves in position to win more matches.


    I've obviously got a psychological advantage being a spinner against those guys, with the record that I've got against South Africa. If they want to juice the wicket up and negate me, I'll take my 0 for 40 and we win in three days. That means a series win and a couple of days of golf. I'll take it every time.

    Hall can also read lips, which is how he often communicates with his father, who frequently travels to the team's tournaments. My dad and I have a language that we both understand when talking about golf, ... I use it when others are teeing off so I won't make noises, or when I'm riding with him in a cart.

    I've already had her out with a golf club. It's going to be tough not being there with her, but thankfully this team has been with me for three years. So if I get a little out of sorts, they can manage without me.


    Nikki played well below what she's capable, but golf can be cruel like that. Sometimes nothing seems like it'll go right during a round and Nikki certainly experienced one of those days today. The most important thing is to forget about it and move on to the next round.
