The real problem in America, though, isn't so much the low quality of TV, it's the high quantity of TV. People watch too much altogether.
Look, this is not a movie for kids. It is a movie that does put that violence in context and it shows the idea of sacrifice, and it emphasizes -- in a way that I think a lot of people don't expect -- that this sacrifice, this death, this suffering was chosen by Jesus, at least according to the Gospels account.
A lot of the red-state, blue-state clichs are stupid and misleading. A lot of people were stunned at how well 'The Passion of the Christ' did in San Francisco, in Madison, Wis., in Philadelphia and New York.
