    It doesn't feel good at all. We know we have to get better in a lot of ways. You look around our locker room and we know we have the talent and ability to score goals, but right now we're being a little tentative. We've got to relax and let our talent take care of it.

    The company he's in -- I just saw something on TV the other day -- it's pretty impressive. It's not just his goals. His physical play, his composure ... it's his whole game. He's been unbelievable here.

    We weren't as ready as we should be. If we take 'em, we've got to kill penalties. They had pretty much the whole first period in power plays, and they earned that.

    We got ourselves into penalty trouble. They had five in the third period, or something like that, and two five-on-threes. You can't give any team that many chances.

    We'll learn and adjust from that game. Teams are too good around the league. You can't start like that.

    I think definitely all the way around the league there's more parity. The movement throughout the league has been exciting to watch as a player and a fan.

    He's a big key to their club and he represents a lot of their speed. We try to make sure we all finish our checks on him . . . even the smaller hits, hopefully we wear him down a little. The more hits we can get on him the better.

    In the third, we were a lot more determined hockey club.

    I'll have to work on some breakaway moves. I think there's going to be more two-on-ones and more breakaways. It should be fun to watch though.

    As a group, we do spend a lot of time on buses, at lunches, and politics does come up. I don't know if we know what we're talking about.

    I take pride in it and I do think about it. It's hard to put in words, but watching black hockey players when I was growing up made me feel it was possible. So knowing what it meant to me and thinking that maybe there are other young black kids who want to play and are in the same situation that I was and wanting to follow that dream... it's a neat feeling to think maybe I can make a difference.

    We know we have to get better. We have the talent and the ability to get a goal. Now the main goal is to get better.

    We're around the same age. He's a good power forward. He's got good hands in front of the net. He scores his share of goals. He can get really hot too which is a good thing.

    But we can improve. It was not a good road trip, but it's good to come home and start over with the home opener.

    Learning to play in big games, Game 7 and Game 6, all of it is a whole different level. It's different hockey, it's great hockey. On the other side of it, we were that close (to winning the Cup), (so) we're hungry. To get that close and hear the other team celebrating, and know it could have been us, that does enter your mind.

    We're a union of 700 players and there are going to be different opinions. But I personally appreciate the job Trevor, Ted and the executive committee have done. Ted is a big part of this deal. He's had a huge say in getting us back on the ice.

    I really like the position of our team, ... We're a young team that has a young core that's still intact and now we're one of those teams that's going to benefit from having free agents become available. If a team like ours is missing one piece, now we're able to go out and find that piece that puts us over the top.

    I thought it was going to be a penalty shot. I was upset with the whole play.



    They're a good team, they're fast and we knew they would be. We've got to match that and unfortunately we didn't.

    It's the toughest loss by a thousand times. It's a very good season and I'm so proud of everybody but that hurts more than anything else I've been a part of.

    I sent (wife) Kara to try and find one but it wasn't in the stores. It will be cool to see.

    In our last couple of games, we've just been a bit sloppier than what our game is and we've given up way too many goals. We've got to get back to doing what we do and that's winning the defensive battles. In the last couple of games, we've been losing those and everybody in our room knows it. That's where well have to start in order to get better.

    I get excited about playing in Edmonton, it's such a great atmosphere, and the games are fun to play in. We know the importance of these games, and coming away with two points is big for us.
