Jarome Iginla Quotes (73 Quotes)

To be a low scoring team like we are and to get the number of wins we have, he's easily the biggest reason. The fans were letting him know tonight and us as players, we appreciate everything he's done this year, it's been amazing to watch.

It was a pretty physical game and they probably had the edge there. In a one-goal game, they had the edge. They got the big goal late. It doesn't feel good on our part, that's for sure.

When you get that close and then you hear the other team, the other fans celebrating to 'Simply The Best' and 'We Are The Champions', that hurt. It hurt a lot. We didn't know who was holding the Cup, but each time someone else took it, you could hear the fans go nuts. We're just sitting there, soaking all of this in and imagining what it would feel like ... if it was us.

We've been trying to build for a long time, and I'm thankful now, ... I think we're turning a corner and I really want to be here, what a great atmosphere with the fans. It's always been great around the playoffs, but to face what we had in the last playoffs and the atmosphere, I don't know if there's a better atmosphere and definitely we wanted to be here with our family.

But we know it's going to be tough, nobody in our room is getting ahead of it.

There are some similarities. It's just the feeling. It didn't feel great then when Canada got off to a 1-1-1 start and it doesn't feel great now. But the confidence is still there.

We got two power-play goals but it's not really about percentages. As a group it's about finding the big goal. We had chances, especially late, to get the equalizer, and we couldn't cash in.

They were more desperate than us off the start and we didn't match it. It was that first period where we were very flat and they were good. They got out ahead of us and we didn't fully get back into it.

These last six games, I've been feeling better and things are starting to roll. As a group, we're creating more scoring chances and it's good for everybody's confidence.

I've never been part of such a quick goal from the start of the period. I've seen it a few times by other teams watching on TV and stuff. Seeing it go in was definitely a good feeling.

In exchange for the cap, the players get more control over their rights and a pension three times larger than the one under the previous deal and easier to attain. Before, our rights were we came into the league at 18 and didn't have a choice where we were going to play until we were 31, ... That's a lot of years. Now you can come in at 18 and be 25 or 27. It gives players a chance to choose a city they've always wanted to play for.

I don't know. I have had some success, been able to score a few goals. It's nothing I can put my finger on. I wish I could carry that over.

As a series goes on, each game gets bigger. We have a chance now to put a dent in them, but we know that, coming off a loss, they're going to be more desperate.

I'm very, very excited. Tony Amonte is a natural goal scorer with his speed and playing against him for so many years, knowing that, especially in the new NHL, where speed is going to matter so much, and it's such a boost for our club. And Darren McCarty, three Stanley Cups, and he's so hard to play against. You play against him and he can skate, he's physical and he can score goals. And these guys I've heard nothing but good things from other players. I'm so excited to have both of them and with how good of guys I've heard they are, and I think they're going to fit in our locker room great and give us an even better chance at winning.

Defensively, we've been doing really well, and offensively, we'd like to score more goals. I don't think that's a secret. Personally, I think the first half could have been better and I'm looking forward to the second half and contributing more on the offensive side of it.

This is my ninth year here and I think I missed one of these tournaments for the World Cup. You come back and see the guys -- it's great. You keep in touch by e-mail but it's kind of a nice buzz to hear the anticipation. It's a good time of the year.
