    I was extremely pleased with Laura's effort and work tonight. She may not always get a lot of minutes, but she is a very solid player who is able to stay calm and direct the team. She played great tonight.

    As a coach, I've been very blessed. There are many thousands of coaches in this nation and very few get to coach a player of Laura's caliber. But it's not just her talent as a soccer player. Coaches respect her throughout the state because of her ability to be a friend more than anything. That means more to me as a coach. What she does on a soccer field is only part of the award. She's a talented player, but as a person, she's even better.

    Ron allowed us to see right away the private piece of a person about to become very public. I suspect we're going to see more of her very private world - Laura's private experience. I'm not sure yet how public she's going to be about the actions she's going to have to take.

    Of Yugoslavian-German-Irish-Native American heritage, she was raised in Kinnelon, NJ, the daughter of Dr. Salvatore Benanti, a psychotherapist, and the former Linda Wonneberger, who's Laura's vocal coach. Younger sister Mariel is a sophomore (and psych major) at Philadelphia's St. Joseph's University. I love her ... She's wonderful, so bright, and so athletic the most generous person. I constantly try to be more like her.



    Laura's been a pleasure to coach because she's so intelligent and she works so hard, ... Sometimes she works too hard. Working hard for success has transferred over to our other runners, too, so I'm kind of glad I've got her for two more years.



    Some people think their loved one lives on through the person, but I don't see it that way. I heard Laura's heart beating so strong inside his chest, but I'm just glad some good came out of something bad.

    And all of Laura's stuff, what they wrote originally wasn't as good and Constance wound up doing that herself. That was all her stuff, reading to the child, because she had children herself and that's what she would have done.
