I saw Christ on an Easter day
Amid the hurrying throng
That wended to the stately church.
I stood and watched Him long.
He eyed them in their festal tire
(I think I saw Him frown)
And not a one made pause to look
Him up or look Him down.
They jostled Him and not a one
Made pause to jeer or greet…
Except a ragged beggar-man
Who knelt down at His feet.
