His wan eyes
Gaze on the empty scene as vacantly
As ocean's moon looks on the moon in heaven.
His wan eyes
Gaze on the empty scene as vacantly
As ocean's moon looks on the moon in heaven.
Heaven smiles, and faiths and empires gleam, Like wrecks of a dissolving dream.
Hail to thee, blithe spirit Bird thou never wert, That from Heaven, or near it, Pourest thy full heart In profuse strains of unpremeditated art
All the earth and air
With thy voice is loud,
As, when night is bare,
From one lonely cloud
The moon rains out her beams, and heaven is overflowed.
Whether my life had been before that sleep
The Heaven which I imagine, or a Hell
Like this harsh world in which I wake to weep,
I know not.
The secret Strength of things
Which governs thought, and to the infinite dome
Of Heaven is as a law, inhabits thee!
And the crimson pall of eve may fall
From the depth of Heaven above,
With wings folded I rest, on mine aery nest,
As still as a brooding dove.
All things are sold the very light of heaven is venal earth's unsparing gifts of love, the smallest and most despicable things that lurk in the abysses of the deep, all objects of our life, even life itself, and the poor pittance which the laws allow of liberty, the fellowship of man, those duties which his heart of human love should urge him to perform instinctively, are bought and sold as in a public mart of not disguising selfishness, that sets on each its price, the stamp-mark of her reign.
Meanwhile thy spirit lifts its pinions
In music's most serene dominions;
Catching the winds that fan that happy heaven.
What ruin
Will hunt thee undefended through wide Heaven!
The Pilgrim of Eternity, whose fame Over his living head like heaven is bent, An early but enduring monument, Came, veiling all the lightnings of his song In sorrow.
Whither have fled
The hues of heaven that canopied his bower
Of yesternight?
the gathering winds will call the darkness soon,
And profoundest midnight shroud the serene lights of heaven.
I ask yon Heaven, the all-beholding Sun,
Has it not seen?
I sang of the dancing stars,
I sang of the dedal earth,
And of heaven, and the Giant wars,
And love, and death, and birth.
