We have a great team and great race cars so if we can run consistently up front I don't think there's any reason why we couldn't be in contention for the big prize.

    My fan club gave us a horseshoe and we mounted it on the toolbox. I think that really helped a lot. ... In context of the season, this is perfect. This is a great day for us.

    Richmond is a great track, and it will be a fun race to watch this week. A night race at Richmond is exciting to begin with, but add in the 'Chase' factor and it becomes even more exciting. Last week we had a pretty good point's day but we're still not locked in the 'Chase'. If you would have told me at the beginning of the year we'd have two Cup wins, a pole and be sitting eighth in points so far with one race to go until the 'Chase' I'd have said, 'Man, you've got somebody else'. I just didn't expect our year to go this well. Our primary goal this week is to make the 'Chase'. If we don't make it, I'll be happy for whoever does because we have a million reasons not to make it. But we really want to make it and I think we can.

    I got a trick up my sleeve for when we really need it so we'll just get ourselves in position, and we're going to be alright, guys.

    We started out strong at the beginning of this year then went on a string of bad runs starting with Infineon. That really hurt us in the points. But Bob (Osborne, crew chief) and the entire team held their heads up and kept fighting and together we got back into the 'Chase'. Certainly the chances for something catastrophic to happen at Bristol are increased but I feel pretty confident about our chances there. If we can come away with a solid finish there, I think we have a good chance at making the 'Chase'.

    I'm excited about the future of the Silver Crown Series. I think the new car design and the new venues they will be racing at will really spark a new found interest in the series. It's really an exciting time because I think they are on the verge of exploding in popularity and exposure and I'm just grateful to be a part of that.

    It has to do with getting Jamie going, thats all it is. Thats something I want to make real clear because Bob is doing an unbelievable job.

    The best part was they gave me a line to read. The cameras started to roll, and as I was walking over to shake the other character's hand, I realized my palms were a little sweaty, which doesn't happen very often.

    Running both series helped me in a bunch of ways. The first thing is I just got to race more. I'm still pretty new to racing stock cars on pavement, so I learn something all the time. The other thing is that it's just fun. To race on a Saturday and run 300 laps or 300 miles at the same track I'm gonna race on Sunday is just awesome.

    I can't believe it, ... I wasn't allowing myself to even think of this, really. So, it's pretty cool. When I go home tomorrow it is going to be pretty neat.

    I'm really excited about getting my 50th start. I read that the other day, and I can't believe that I will have driven 50 Nextel Cup races I didn't ever think I'd get to drive one. It's just awesome and it means the world to me. I am really glad to be a part of the sport at this level. Hopefully, there is another zero after that start number before I quit.

    To make it into the top-10 was OK, ... We had a better car that that. We were just too tight and we kept destroying the tires.

    It will be great to be back in Charlotte this weekend. It's always good to race close to home. We had a disappointing race there earlier this season and we know that we can run well there. They have a new surface on the track and that will make the track very fast and I like fast. That will be awesome and work to our advantage. The team plans on focusing on a top five finish and hopefully shake off some of this bad luck we have been experiencing. We have a great team and we plan on showing that at Lowe's.

    We just didn't want to make too many changes and mess anything up too much, ... We'll be OK for the race.

    Running both helps me a ton. I can't stand to sit around and watch other people race. Ford briefed us the other day and told us a lot of exciting news about the Fusion, so that should be a great car to run. I'm ready to go racing.

    I want to win this race. But, at the same time, I'm really aware of the points situations. To come out of here and distance myself on the good of 10th place would be awesome.

    I think race car drivers and airplanes go together pretty well. They're just neat machines and I've always thought about being a pilot. So I'm having fun with that. I have to pinch myself when I'm flying along at night in my own airplane, going to a race somewhere.

    I love night racing and I'm extremely excited for Bristol.

    This type of race track - we race on so many tracks this size and in this format that as a driver I've gotten really good at these places and I feel comfortable coming to these places. As a team we've developed some awesome cars. We went out there and I think we were third in the first practice today. It's pretty straightforward. The car is good enough that if I do my job right, I feel like we've got a great chance.

    I just didn't expect our year to go this well, ... I think I have been very fortunate to be driving these cars at the time I am driving them.

    They spent a great amount of time and energy explaining to me their position. I didn't see that at the time while he was refusing to pit, and almost got myself in real trouble by not pulling in.

    I think we are fortunate this is the next race considering our position. I don't think we can fall much further back, so I think it's going to be fun race in California.

    I'm like a sponge, but also I just try to be efficient and learn.

    They tried really hard to make it work. We were hoping for the best, but I don't think it's going to be possible. I wanted to do it so badly.

    Then I got back out there and we were running and I went to pass Kyle Petty Green's teammate on the outside and he just drilled me into the wall. It just destroyed our car. I thought he did it on purpose because I was far enough up next to him,

    We've accomplished every goal we wanted to accomplish already, so I don't see any reason to put extra pressure on ourselves. If we just go out, have a good time, give it 100 percent effort, try to win these races, never look back, that's all we can do.

    In a way, it might make it harder to do things for one another that could help each other on the track. None of us want to sacrifice anything.

    Johnson doesn't know it, but I completed more miles than he did by the time he took the checkered at Daytona. I was already flying west.

    The Silver Crown Series has produced some of the greatest drivers and they have a really rich history.

    I sat over there for 15 minutes and a couple guys came by and that's about it. There's a lot more attention now.
