Yvette Girouard Quotes (31 Quotes)

Dani looked very good tonight. She was in complete control after the first inning and really only had one bad pitch in that inning.

This was one of those teams that we said we needed to sweep and we're getting it done. We divided the programs up as to what was realistic and who we thought on paper we should sweep and we are on track so far except for Georgia.

It was a good sweep for us on the day. I thought we were a little tentative at the plate. (Mary Jane) Callahan is a good pitcher and she kept us off balance in the second game. Camille came up huge when you talk about primetime hitting. I thought both of our pitches came through with the pitches when we needed them and we played some outstanding defense.

The defense was there, but we just never got the clutch hit all weekend. We out-hit almost every opponent and lost three games. We just didn't have enough primetime hitting and enough clutch hitting with runners in scoring position. The team played hard, but it just didn't happen today.

I think we were here ready to play and if we could have gotten a break or two here or there, the outcome could have been different. We had chances to win the ballgame and we'll have more chances down the road.

I thought Dani was magnificent tonight. I thought she threw as well as she's thrown in a while.

They have a great pitcher. She's had two good games against us this year and their shortstop made probably three run-saving plays.

I thought we played excellent and we had some chances but didn't quite capitalize. The game was closer than the score, but credit UCLA for making the play at the plate in the third inning and getting the one key swing of the bat to win it.

It was an impressive day for the Tigers with the bats against a pretty effective pitcher in Callahan. We were opportunistic and played some good defense when we needed to. I didn't think that Dani was particularly sharp but she was still talented enough to win.

I was very proud of the team this week. I was kind of concerned because they knew they were getting some time off and I didn't want them to look ahead. The team and the coaching staff are going to get some rest this weekend. It comes at a great time with the stretch that we are about to encounter.

Stephanie Hill was just phenomenal today. Leslie Klein continues her tear. Camille Harris showed power from the second hole that we have been lacking.

It was a great sweep for the Tigers. We did what we intended to do for the weekend. The team hit the ball extremely well all weekend. The pitchers did a good job in tough conditions.

Leslie Klein hit her first home run in two years. She looks like she's back and she loves softball.

It was a productive day at the ballpark. After a shaky beginning I thought we settled down and played some good defense. It seemed like we had a mini-hangover from last night and was very uncharacteristic of this team. We have a great opportunity early in the morning to play another very good opponent.

We talked about scoring in the first inning because we realize how important it is for us. We exploded out, and made a statement immediately. We couldn't quite finish it, but we did get to play everybody. Emily (Turner) wasn't as sharp as she has been, but she was still in total control except for one pitch.

I thought it was important for Emily to throw tonight. She had a rough outing against Oregon State and we wanted to give her back a little bit of confidence. She threw hard and I thought her ball moved well. She was in control during the game.

I thought it was an exceptional day for the Tigers. We hit the ball hard and played good defense. Everyone had a chance to play. The competition gets a little better tomorrow, but overall I was very happy.

I thought we were just phenomenal in the first inning. Parts of the game are really coming together for us right now.

I have to give kudos to Emily because that kid has come a long way since she started. I always thought it would take until her junior or senior year until you could really see what kind of pitcher she is. She's always had all the talent in the world and now she's getting the mental aspect.

I like the way we look right now. Our leaders are starting to step up their play. Emily was lights out again for us. Dani had her change up working well again. It's great to see both of our pitchers perform so well because we really do believe we have that 1-2 combination but it's just been a little lacking. Once Dani is back on track we should be really tough to deal with.

I thought Emily did a fantastic job all weekend. She has become what she was at the end of the year last year. She is becoming the complete pitcher. Not only is she physically gifted, but she understands how to pitch now and not just throw.

This is what we needed to do today. We were really focused at the plate in the first game and late in the second game. It's fun when everyone gets their feet wet and sees action in the game.

I've got to hand it to the team. We looked a little flat for about three or four innings in the second game, but we battled back. We came from behind and never game up. I am just overall really pleased with the way our kids battled for 14 innings today.

What an incredible honor, not only for Emily, but also for our program. Emily deserves all of the positives she is seeing in her performances because she is literally the hardest working athlete I have ever coached.

I think, with the exception of base running mistakes, we looked very good. The defense was totally solid especially tonight, we made some really nice plays. We hit the ball as hard as you can possibly hit it, but it just didn't have eyes at times, but overall I was very pleased.

Leslie Klein came up with a huge hit today. Camille Harris has just been a warrior for us. She is battered and bruised, but she continues to make plays. It was a good sweep.

It was a great day offensively for the Tigers. We absolutely swung the bats like I know we are capable of doing. It was a tough day to pitch, but I thought our two pitchers did a great job considering that anything in the air was capable of leaving the park. It was a great day for us, but not good softball conditions. It was just a matter of survival, but I thought we played well.

The team was very confident in the dugout. We weren't getting many hits, but they kept saying they were seeing the ball. The team has been pumped to play this game since the season started.

We came out firing on all cylinders in the first game. However, in the second game, we just left too many people on base. The series is not over. We still have to come out and take care of business tomorrow.

It's always been unbelievable when we play here. When you match up this game day atmosphere, a regional-type atmosphere, with one of the best programs out there it is great for college softball.
