Mike Lonergan Quotes (28 Quotes)

What we wanted to do was slow them down. We wanted to control Heard, and what we really wanted was to force other people to beat us.

Hope we dont see them again (in the conference tournament).

We've tried to make him our go-to player all year. He's had his moments, but he's been inconsistent in that role.

And Josh made two really big plays late. He's a threat and we need him to be a threat.

Chris Holm was a real player in the second half. We're going to have trouble winning if he doesn't play at that level consistently.

The only thing I'm disappointed with this year is ending the regular season on a four-game losing streak. But it's not like we're getting blown out. We've struggled with free throws and turnovers, and we'll get better. I just hope it happens this weekend.

I thought our free throws were the huge key to overcoming the late turnovers.

I've played a lot of games in my life and coached a lot. I never felt so helpless on the sidelines, to watch a team that I thought was playing pretty good defense just continue to give up offensive rebounds.

We're just happy to be alive. I think our guys hung in there. I thought they played really smart.

The story continues. We got off to a bad start, but we stayed in it, finally started playing defense and then we couldn't make a basket. We had three wide-open 3s with 12 minutes left to cut the lead to five and we couldn't make one.

I knew he'd start right away at point guard. He's a tough kid, and when we need scoring, he scores. And when we need him to make passes, he does that, too.

I told the team if we can hold them under 40 percent shooting and do a good job defending the 3-point line, we'll have a chance. When we play together, our team defense is exceptional.

The two games before both won by BU were crazy, ugly games, and we expected more of the same. The free throws were huge to overcome the mistakes we made at the end.

We knew UMBC would be much better at home than on the road. Our defense didn't have any energy in the first half and then we played with a little more intensity in the second to make a run at them. It's real hard to come back from 18 points down at halftime.

That's one of the things that our team has, we got some smart guys. I thought we could have panicked like we have some games today, and we didn't. That lead kept going down but the free throws really helped.

The difference tonight was we got some guys to make shots. We've been getting good shots all year we just haven't been making them.

I think they're tremendously talented. They're the one team on paper in our league that is a legitimate team. They have two of everything at every position. They're good, they're definitely the No. 1 seed and they definitely deserved it.

Chad makes a great diving play to get Martin a dunk and the crowd really gets into the game and you think we have momentum. I'm frustrated, but we didn't deserve to win that game.

I've got to watch the film. I'm still not sure what happened. It just hit me like a ton of bricks throwing the game away.

It surprised me. Mike, he's not your ordinary freshman. You want him to have the ball and he's a great free throw shooter. The guy was open, he told me he just didn't throw it hard enough.

We had our chances. I'm really proud of our effort and I thought all we needed to do was make a few plays and we just couldn't.

When I thought we turned the corner and would do something right, they would just go down the other end and pound it down our throat.

Bottom line is we had chances to win. Our guys played real hard, but it's frustrating that we couldn't make a play.

It's as frustrating a loss as I think I've ever had, but I don't feel badly. We deserved to lose that game and BU is very deserving to win that game for what they did to us in the second half.

I think they will be one of the top two teams coming into next season. Will Brown deserves a lot of credit. He's proven he can recruit and you can tell his players really believe in what he's doing.

The guys are really happy right now. I have trouble putting (the losses) behind me but they've done a good job of that.

That last 10 minutes was painful. If I was in the crowd I might have left, too.

I give Albany all the credit in the world. They weren't going to be denied today.
