Larry Brown Quotes on Time (22 Quotes)

You're not supposed to have to coach effort. I've never been in a situation where that's ever been an issue. I've always been in places where I knew you could count on the effort. But again, this is as young a group as I've had in a long time.

If I thought we were disorganized, I would have called time. Jamal just made a great play ... I'm happy for the team they can go home and relax and be energized. In that locker room, they needed something positive to happen.

He's way behind where he will be, but he's worked very hard and he's getting better every day. He's nowhere up to the level of conditioning that Channing Frye, David Lee and Jackie Butler and the rest of our young kids are at this time. But I always think that it takes bigger guys longer.

Basketball started for me in this city and I want to be here when it's finally time for me to stop, ... I'm not here to retire. I'm here to help build something that will be around for a long time.

As I told the team, maybe we'll walk the ball up the rest of the year and call a play every time, so the other team can't score 120 points and shoot 57.

The bottom line is we don't have a rotation, we don't know who can play. So it's going to take time. Eventually we're going to have an eight- or nine-man rotation and we'll probably have nine happy guys and five that are unhappy.

I won't play the rookies all the time, but they earned it. It's going to take some time. We're trying to figure out who can play and who can help us.

I haven't had this opportunity in a long time. I've learned a lot from this season, and hopefully I'll be better for it.

I just think our big guys, in particular Eddy and Jerome, are not in the kind of shape they need to be in to play in the N.B.A. right now, ... But we still have time. And they will get in shape, and they will help us.

You never get five guys doing (the right thing) every time, and that's the only way you can be successful.

Dr. Callahan told me let's shut it down awhile and give him some time to rest because he hasn't done anything (like this) in two years, ... It's a lot different than working out on your own and then all of sudden being in this kind of environment. So we're going to shut it down a little bit. Hopefully he'll be back the beginning of next week. We'll know a lot more then.

He can get you an easy basket at any time, he'll make an easy pass, he'll get a key rebound, he's just so solid.

We've got to realize that you play differently in the playoffs. You've got to control tempo. It's imperative that you take care of the ball. You've got to play harder than you thought about playing at any time of the year, even though you hope that's a given.

You know, he's got the ball all the time. I ran probably as much stuff for him tonight as I have at any time. It's just one of those nights. Maybe he didn't feel like he had it. But we got three assists and no steals.

Look, I've been coaching how many years A long time. I never left a team in worse shape than I got it. Not once. Think about that. Think about me and think about the guy who's talking.

It's been a struggle. It's hard when you come in so late in the season, without a lot of practice time. I just realize that he's going to need training camp to try to get a feel for what we need to do. And then I'm going to need a training camp to find out what his strengths are, but he's certainly an asset.

He's phenomenal. He's one of the best that's come into this league in a long, long time.

It depends on who the guys are. I've heard Michael do it. Because everybody knew he tried to do everything the right way all the time I think they could handle it.

We've been rock bottom for a long time.

It wasn't only him (who was injured) at the time. But he was playing at such a high level. The first 30, 40 games, I thought he got better every game. His stats might not reflect that, but just in terms of what we were asking him to do. It set us way back and it set him way back.
