    He got me. It wasn't too bad of a pitch, maybe (it) caught a lot of the plate though. It was down, and I was trying to get a double-play ball. You have to tip your hat, he got me.

    The reason I think I'm a good pitcher is I locate my fastball and I change speeds. Period. That's what you do to pitch. That's what pitchers have to do to win games.

    I heard Julio Franco say a million times that age is just a number. I'm finally starting to understand what he meant by that. I used to laugh at him 10 years ago, but I know what he means now.

    It's what I do. I enjoy coming to the park every day. Mentally, I don't want to give it up. When it comes time to decide on next year, I will. But it's not time yet. There's too much in front of me right now to worry about.

    The outcome of the game is something that, as a starting pitcher, is very hard to control. Just worry about making pitches. And leave it at that.

    You have to locate your fastball and change your speeds. There was nothing wrong with my fastball. I had movement. I had the velocity.

    But having been in the National League for 20 years, it's just kind of tradition.

    Barrett is a little older, calmer. I don't know if mature is the right word or not. Experienced is probably a better word. He understands himself as a catcher more, and at the same time, understands who's pitching, whether it's me or one of the other 10 guys.

    I was still able to throw my slider, change-up, curveball. But my location was terrible. I was making too many mistakes over the middle of the plate.

    You want to lower your ERA, pitch better. It's that simple. Just try to pitch better. Don't make as many mistakes as I made last year.

    I would love to try to win another game. Obviously, it's more fun when you win. I'd rather try and not win than not try at all.

    Age is just a number. I heard Julio Franco say it a million times. I used to laugh at him, but now I know what he means.
