By God, if women had but written stories, As have these clerks within their oratories, They would have written of men more wickedness Than all the race of Adam could redress.
If no love is, O god, what fele I so?
But for the love of god, at my preyinge,
Go henne a-way, for certes, my deyinge
Wol thee disese, and I mot nedes deye;
Ther-for go wey, ther is no more to seye.
Now, thonked be god, he may goon in the daunce
Of hem that Love list febly for to avaunce!
