Chris DiMarco Quotes (74 Quotes)

Courses are not getting any shorter. I could not hit the ball an average of 279, 280 (yards) and compete out here still. I needed to get eight to 10 more yards somehow. It makes a big difference.

Every piece of my body was shaking, ... My caddie says before I hit the putt, 'This is the moment you've waited for your whole life, so go ahead and do it.' And you know, I did.

We both hit a lot of really quality golf shots. It's always nice to look across the fairway and see Phil Mickelson is your partner.

I did it for 13 other guys counting (Jeff) Sluman and Mr. Nicklaus -- let alone the whole country. It's unbelievable. We needed this Cup, we needed it. We really did. When people get down on us and say we don't care, I can tell you one thing, we care.

You go on and hope that the next week it will happen. I've done good things to win, it just hasn't been my time.

Obviously I'm a little disappointed in this week but the good news is there's always next week. I've got a lot of good memories there. I got nothing good out of this week so let's go on to next week.

I did it for 13 other guys, counting assistant captain Jeff Sluman and Mr. Nicklaus. It's unbelievable, ... We need this Cup. We really did. People were getting down on us, saying that we don't care, and we care. This is a big, big week.

She has not done that in probably eight years. I feel like I slow down a lot more with her, which is great because that's my big problem, I get too fast.

I saw enough of that last year, trust me. Have you heard the motto, 'These guys are good' There it is.

It's the team camaraderie you get, which we don't have out here on tour. One time a year, basically, you're a team. . . . Plus, who wouldn't want to play for their country in their country

That's what our whole goal was as a team this week, to win for him. We wanted this bad. We wanted this for Mr. Nicklaus. And it's nice to give him that.

I have to give that to lack of knowledge of the golf course. For some reason, I think that right side that you can get to that far bunker out there. I'm not long enough to get to that bunker. I tried to take a little more off than I can chew. I thought it was going to fly into the bunker and it didn't even get close.

For me, you could sum it up with one word - emotion

Obviously they're trying to make changes to the course which is making it better, and I just want to play the week before the Presidents Cup, so I'm not looking ahead,

That's why you see a lot of diversity of winners here. It's letting guys have a lot of chances.

He said, 'How are you doing' I said, 'I'm good, I'm having so much fun. He said, 'Good. Because we really need your point.' I got up-and-down for birdie and on the next hole, the 17th, I'm tied with Stuart Appleby. Mr. Nicklaus is on the tee helping me out with what club to hit. To me, that was the coolest thing.

We need this Cup, we really did, ... People we're getting down on us, saying that we don't care, and we care.

It's very severe off the tee. It's just a tough driving golf course.

This is a good win for Phil. This is great for his confidence. He might go 5-0 now, which is what we're going to need. We jell really good together. He calms me down a lot and keeps me focused on the shots I need to make. I can't tell you how much it helps to have Phil Mickelson next to you in the fairway.

I am getting like that, unfortunately. I guess that's a compliment. You have to take things the right way. I was right there.

Believe it or not, I thought I was going to win. There was one guy tied with me and they had 16, 17 and 18 left. Those holes were playing brutal. Tiger made a birdie on 16 with a 7-iron to a pin tucked behind the water.

It was a good time, it was a good one to get us two up. This is a great atmosphere, we need our fans cheering. We need it loud.

I was not like that eight months ago. It's hard, too, because I want to go back and lay in bed and watch golf.

You have to hit 3- or 4-iron and make sure you have a downhill slope.

You hit it in the rough and I would say from any more than 150 yards out you are not going to be able to get to the greens. Fairway is premium this week. The greens are sneaky quick. You get on the wrong side and they can be really fast. It's playing tough.

Bridesmaid is getting old, I can promise you that, especially when I've played good enough to get there and not gotten it. This one really kind of pisses me off for lack of a better word. This is good. Maybe it'll light a fire under me.

I got off to a great start today, which really helped calm everything down and put me up in front, where I didn't have to feel like I had to make birdies.

All day long I was like, 'Let's hope it doesn't come down to our match. And sure enough, it came down to our match.

Tiger has got to be exhausted, ... Because he was in a battle today.

Just to be on the team with the greatest player in the world as your captain is the greatest honor in the world.

I tell you what, this is unbelievable, ... I was looking for an opportunity to make a putt like that on 18. What can you say when the greatest player in the world has enough trust in you to put you last.

Any time you don't make any bogeys around this place, that's a good thing. Usually when you don't make any birdies, that's not a good thing. But I'm OK.

I was paired with Gary (Nicklaus) in a junior event. We were 16. I get there, and there's Mr. Nicklaus watching. That was the most nerve-racking round of golf of my life.

I'm glad it's over to tell you the truth, ... My stomach was turning out there.

Until you get on these greens and put a flagstick in your hand and you have to putt on these greens, that's what keeps everybody in this tournament, bottom line. The year Tiger won by 12 in 1997, he didn't have a three-putt the whole week. That's why he won the tournament. Putting is still the key here.

I ran into both of them at the same time, so I just wanted to let them know that what was said or what they heard was not what I actually said. It was put to rest and they were fine.

You expect that, don't you ... If I shoot 36, I'm only one shot up. And I went out and shot 33, so I played a good nine myself. If I go around and make a few birdies on the back, we'll be fine.

I felt like I played good enough to win the Masters and I felt I played good golf today,

All these younger kids, they're ready to play out here. They're ready to be in the spotlight. ... They're not afraid to win like I was, to be quite frank. It was hard with the lead out there and the cameras on you and the people cheering you. It was hard to balance all that, and these young kids now are able to do that.

I watched how to win - I had the best seat in the house and what I saw was that Phil had fun

Seriously, I'd like to see them make it 20 yards shorter so more guys would try to drive it. My philosophy there is, if I feel like I can get too close to the green with a driver, I don't hit it.

I love this tournament and this course, and it's usually a very good tune-up for me going into Augusta, but being the week it is, I want to make sure I'm rested. And I would lose Monday as a practice round.

They caught a hot streak at the right time. That's what you hope for in golf.

To be able to make that putt is the greatest feeling in the world.

Last year, I played good enough to win probably three tournaments. I ran into David Toms at the Match Play he was unbelievable. Tiger and I beat the field by 7 here. At NEC, I posted a number, and he made a great birdie on 16. New Orleans (a tie for third) is the only one I regret because I feel I gave that one away. I hit a bad shot on 10, and it took me out of my rhythm.
