When I came here in 1968 from Austria as an immigrant, it's the last thing I thought, that one day 35 years later I would be standing here filing the papers to run for governor of the great state of California,
You know, at that WAMM rally the week before last, I was sitting up there and thinking, suppose some right-wing nut gets in and throws a bomb Well, what the hell, I'd rather die for a cause then die for nothing. It didn't bother me at all. I can't frighten myself anymore.
I knew I was a winner back in the late sixties. I knew I was destined for great things. People will say that kind of thinking is totally immodest. I agree. Modesty is not a word that applies to me in any way - I hope it never will.
