Adam Scott Quotes (49 Quotes)

I was walking with Mike Weir, and Mike said he was more nervous watching these guys putt than he was putting to win the Masters. I'm glad it was Ernie putting.

I think Davis was much in the same boat. When you just get in the worst spots, there's no forgiveness.

The teams are named, and we're ready to go. It's going to be some good competition. I'd like to get my hands on the trophy and look forward to the Sunday night celebration. We did a pretty good job celebrating last time, and we didn't even win the thing.

It will give us something else to play for outside the majors.

Rory is a very confident guy and really believes in himself. His attitude seems to be more relaxed than I've ever seen with him. He's that talented, and if he gets it all figured out, he's going to be in contention and winning tournaments.

Both keepers came up huge. Both keepers had some point-blank shots and stopped them. If it wasn't for the keepers, this game could have been 9-8, and I don't know who would have won. Overall, it was a great game.

I was a bit rusty around the greens but I've got three weeks to tighten up my short game and get ready for Perth (where he will defend his title at the Johnnie Walker Classic).

I am very happy with how I played today. But I had to shoot at least 64 to have a chance.

I was really mad with myself. I gave it right back on 14 and 15. We shouldn't have even stepped on to the 17th tee.

It's a very nice (compliment) but a little too much to live up to. Winning a major would help but then I would need about nine more. So that's a while more,

It certainly gives us something else to focus on, and I'm very excited.

I expect myself to play well. I've never defended a title yet but it would be nice to do it this week, especially to give me my first win in Australia.

For a tour that tries to follow the sun, it seems we play under water a lot of the time.

It was shattering sitting home watching that. I wanted it, I thought, probably just as much as he did. I had probably looked up to him for 10 years at that point. It was heartbreaking for every golfer in Australia.

I thought I did pretty well to hang on and shoot 10 over par. It's ridiculous, but I felt like I was going to shoot 90 there for awhile.

I really didn't play with any pressure like these guys in the lead. It was a much tougher day for them.

I think all the players ... call it the fifth major. It's just a bigger event. It's a big deal to all of us.

You can be leading by two, leading by four but, until you get past 17, it's never really over.

Who has he got there ... Phil (Mickelson)... they did good together, didn't they.

I feel very comfortable playing this golf course. The shots here always seem to fit my eye.

You can't win the match after six holes and they chipped away at us and drew it out to 17, so we were real happy to close it up.

That would finish off the year, and I'd be pretty happy.

I certainly play off that experience of winning out here.

I've never played with her, but she's a bit of a phenomenon, incredible. I don't know how she's been playing lately, but if she plays anything like last year, there's every chance she'll make the cut.

I was playing well but didn't really score as well as I could have. That was frustrating and that's why I decided to go home to relax and just get my head back into the game and have a really good end of the year. It's a good field here. Obviously Lee, Nick and Craig are here and the good Asian players are here as well.

Certainly, I think for me to break through in a major is the next step.

You have to prepare hard for every game. All of the scores have been so close this year. There is some great competition out here, and that's a great thing.

I was pretty happy with a good week in Singapore. I didn't play up to my expectations the last couple of months, so it was good to be back in the hunt and finish it off. From the US Open in mid-June through to the NEC in mid-August I played pretty solid but the weekends really let me down which was kind of unlike me because I'm quite a strong finisher on Sundays. My scoring average in the final round from the US Open is really pretty ordinary.

And, take Phil Mickelson. I played with him in the first two days of the PGA. He'd be the first to admit he wasn't on his game. I was amazed at how well he scored with the way he hit the ball. I guess that's what it all comes down to. He was just red-hot with his putter. Give me one of those weeks.

It's good for golf at the moment. It's a big story and we need all the exposure we can get. If she starts making cuts, she can play as many as she wants. I think it wears a bit thin on everyone if she were to keep missing all the cuts, but there's no doubt she's good enough to make the cut.

I don't think I'd want gale-force winds, but if it was a bit of a breeze, maybe 10 mph. I think that would find the best golfer over the weekend. When it's blowing a gale, there's a lot of luck involved. If it was dead calm, then I don't know if I'm hitting it close enough to run away with the guys who make a lot of birdies.

I was smart and I had a game plan. I seemed to execute just how I wanted to -- only one bogey on 16.

I didn't think I had a chance. When I got to about the 12th hole, the leaders were still at 13 and 14 (under par). The wind picked up in our face, and I knew if I could get a few more birdies they would have some tough holes coming in.

It's a big week for us, a big week for me. Two years ago she almost made it. If she putts really well, she can make the cut.

It was a shame to do -- play my way out of the tournament. The good thing is I have (today) to redeem myself. If it was Sunday, I would be suicidal at the moment.

I was hitting shots OK, but I was a little shaky on the greens. That's always a little scary here. It was nice to pull myself together by the end of the front nine and give myself a chance.

The guy had an off week. It's his poorest finish in a major in about seven years and he still made the cut. He finished way down the field but that's how this game goes. So much is expected of the top players now that it's almost unfair pressure. He took some criticism because he travels so much but that's also part of the reason why Ernie Els is as good a player as he is.

All I did was listen to my body and you have to do that sometimes.

Rory has been on the leader board every week I've looked this year. When you've got that confidence, you have to run with it.

Asia has been great to me. I played a good round of golf this afternoon and there you go. I've got this big trophy over here, my first national championship too.

It was a great opening round, and I certainly had a lot of opportunities and I made some putts.

When Robert turns on his A game, he's as good as anyone in the world. It's a class field, but he's right up there with the best.

Seeing that half the team is from Australasia, I think they are counting on us for some points. We're going to need to make some points this week, but it's not like we're the top six guys on the team. It doesn't really matter where you are from. You're just under the same flag this week.

It was great to have some representation early on in this event for us Australians.

It was a good first round. Three birdies to finish is always nice. The wind got up a little bit, but it was a lot less than I was expecting. I was expecting it would be tough today. There is still a long way to go, but certainly it would be good to capitalize on this round tomorrow with another good one. Hopefully I can go out and keep making birdies.

I think if he is in a tournament, it is certainly on your mind that if he is on his game then he is going to be very difficult to beat. Even if he is not on top of his game.

It's totally a game of confidence. When you've got that confidence, you've got to run with it because who knows how long it's going to last.
