Are you a politician asking what your country can do for you or a zealous one asking what you can do for your country If you are the first, then you are a parasite is the second, then you are an oasis in a desert.

FIRST keep thyself in peace, and then shalt thou be able to be a peacemaker towards others. A peaceable man doth more good than a well-learned. A passionate man turneth even good into evil and easily believeth evil a good, peaceable man converteth all things into good. He who dwelleth in peace is suspicious of none, but he who is discontented and restless is tossed with many suspicions, and is neither quiet himself nor suffereth others to be quiet. He often saith what he ought not to say, and omitteth what it were more expedient for him to do. He considereth to what duties others are bound, and neglecteth those to which he is bound himself. Therefore be zealous first over thyself, and then mayest thou righteously be zealous concerning thy neighbour.
When holy and devout religious men Are at their beads, 'tis hard to draw them thence So sweet is zealous contemplation.
Zealous men are ever displaying to you the strength of their belief, while judicious men are showing you the grounds of it.
Upon thy cheek lay I this zealous kiss
As seal to this indenture of my love:
That to my home I will no more return
Till Angiers and the right thou hast in France,
Together with that pale, that white-fac'd shore,
Whose foot spurns back the ocean's roaring tides
And coops from other lands her islanders-
Even till that England, hedg'd in with the main,
That water-walled bulwark, still secure
And confident from foreign purposes-
Even till that utmost corner of the west
Salute thee for her king.
Again and again, I've seen Bush turn a blind eye as his henchmen have leveled zealous attacks against his political enemies - assaults which the president himself has sometimes directly encouraged.
If zealous love should go in search of virtue,
Where should he find it purer than in Blanch?
Zealous, yet modest innocent, though free Patient of toil serene amidst alarms Inflexible in faith invincible in arms.
We will be providing him with a zealous defense.
In his new book, It Takes a Family, ... all politicians know that when you engage in any traditional values issue ... adjectives like intolerant, rigid, far-right, mean-spirited, extreme, hard-line and zealous will routinely be used to describe you.
Handsome and well shaped, stout hearted, vehement, eager, cruel in war, zealous in attack, little fearing death not revengeful but fickle, presumptuous, rash, boastful deceitful very suspicious, especially of strangers.
While living, apparently, as modern men and women, using electric fans and electric irons, telephones and trains, and aeroplanes, when they can afford it, they nourish in their hearts a deep contempt for the childish conceit and bloated hopes of our age, and for the various recipes for saving, mankind, which zealous philosophers and politicians thrust into circulation. They know that nothing can save mankind, for mankind is reaching the end of its present cycle. The wave that carried it, for so mane millenniums, is about to break, with all the fury of acquired speed, and to merge once more into the depth of the unchanging Ocean of undifferentiated existence. It will rise again, some day, with abrupt majesty, for such is the law of waves. But in the meantime nothing can be done to stop it.
I do not love a man who is zealous for nothing.
You say that at the time of the Congress, in 1765, The great mass of the people were zealous in the cause of America. The great mass of the people is an expression that deserves analysis. New York and Pennsylvania were so nearly divided, if their propensity was not against us, that if New England on one side and Virginia on the other had not kept them in awe, they would have joined the British. Marshall, in his life of Washington, tells us, that the southern States were nearly equally divided. Look into the Journals of Congress, and you will see how seditious, how near rebellion were several counties of New York, and how much trouble we had to compose them. The last contest, in the town of Boston, in 1775, between whig and tory, was decided by five against two. Upon the whole, if we allow two thirds of the people to have been with us in the revolution, is not the allowance ample Are not two thirds of the nation now with the administration Divided we ever have been, and ever must be. Two thirds always had and will have more difficulty to struggle with the one third than with all our foreign enemies.
I think things changed as a result of a certain perception of our politics. When we went through our zealous, self-righteous period it didn't exactly win us any friends.
I found Brad to be a zealous advocate for his client and also dedicated to reaching a reasonable settlement. They're lawyers of great integrity, and I think it's a great asset to have them involved on the plaintiff side.
