Peace to the shacks! War on the palaces!
Often you used the name of your home town as a metaphor for your 1992 presidential campaign, 'The man from Hope. Well, I am sure that many Katrina-displaced families now homeless, or huddling with friends or relatives or in shacks wish that you would give them some hope.
There's definitely a need in this area. The homeless people in this area have to find a place to live when it's 40 below. Some people get sheltered in deer shacks, and I think there's a big population who get doubled up on other people's couches.
Shack's a good player. He's been in situations like that for a long time. I'm glad he stepped up like that tonight.
Now we maintain that we cannot be afford to be concerned about 6 percent of the children in this country, black children, who you allow to come into white schools. We have 94 percent who still live in shacks. We are going to be concerned about those 94 percent.
Let those long distance philanthropists who want to romanticize shacks ... tell us why they don't allow them in their own land,
