We had to go out second and that is a little bit of a question mark since the weather changed so much. You never know what will happen with the cool temperatures and the wind, but I was flat on the throttle. It felt pretty good. We did some race setups this morning and the car seems to be very good for the race. Rahal Letterman Racing had enough data coming into qualifying that we were not too surprised by the conditions. On the first lap I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. I had to go off to avoid hitting Graham Rahal. They pulled me out of the gravel last, even though I was one of the cars that could continue, and we went two laps down.

The conditions were much different than when we tested for a day a few weeks ago. Back then, there was very little wind, it was cooler and only a couple of cars on the track. This time, the wind was stronger and the heat was up in the 80s. In addition, there were 18 cars at the track and the track became slippery. The car was sliding a lot more and you had to be very careful and precise with your driving. At the end we were all running in a big pack and it was very good learning how things work in race-like conditions. It is a pleasure to be a part of a world-class team like Rahal Letterman. This team works so well together and everything is mapped out properly.

Well, it was a win obviously under very difficult circumstances. I think certainly my thoughts and prayers and everybody here, their thoughts are with the Dana family and everybody at Rahal Letterman Racing. It's very difficult to race under circumstances like this. I think everybody in the community and the fans that came out to Homestead-Miami Speedway today should be commended for the effect that they have on the drivers to pull through under very difficult circumstances.
We had a vibration with the car after the second practice today. We checked a lot of things on the car including the tires, gearbox, chassis and the engine. Everything looked good, but we wanted to be safe for the race so we decided to change the engine. That way we are ready for warm-up and the race. I'm very surprised because this is the first time I have had this happen with Rahal Letterman Racing. We can work out some more things in warm-up and the car will be set to go. The car felt very good in traffic in the practice. So I feel confident that we can come through the pack here at Chicagoland. Some other tracks you couldn't do, that but here it is possible.
