The New Yorker has devoted itself for 59 years not only to facts and literal accuracy but to truth. And truth begins, journalistically, with the facts.
The challenge for us is also to make it journalistically solid.
Even though it has been very painful, lots of opportunities have come forward journalistically. Once all of this blows over, I think it might actually help that I have gotten this attention.
But how reliable was the reporting, media execs asked. Who were their sources How about if one of the citizen reporters had it in for one of the Republicans I didn't add my two cents on that point at the meeting. Here it is now As a reader, I'm happy to look at that citizens' reporting. It's additive. There was nothing. Now there's something. True, the anonymous reporters are not accountable for their work. So I wouldn't cite it, journalistically, as evidence that a certain Republican voted one way or another.
To be journalistically correct means we have an obligation to the people watching our show and we were not able to do that because of the officials.
I have to be journalistically appropriate and voice my opinion if something happens, but I want to do my best to accentuate the positives of the sport.
