Jimmie Johnson has finished 37th, 34th and 37th in the past three fall Talladega races, and he believes he's not alone in bringing a different mindset into this weekend. He starts ninth today. When you're at a 1.5-mile or a normal' track, most guys think they have a shot at winning, ... I really think everybody -- the drivers in the Chase especially -- wants to get out of there with a top-10.

I think today's drivers are hesitant to get into a rivalry because they could be the bad guy. Look at Jimmie Johnson. There was a period of time here this year he was booed everywhere he went. No one likes to be booed. I don't care who you are.

I hate Rusty Wallace. Oh, sorry. I can't get that out of my blood. What I meant to say is that Jimmie Johnson is a cheater. I was nose-to-tail with the No. 48 car for much of the day, and, using the knowledge obtained in my engineering studies at Purdue University, I was able to pinpoint several violations. For example, using only the naked eye, I could tell that the rear spoiler was 132 of an inch too high, and the inspection sticker on his license plate had clearly expired.

It's just disappointing. I think a lot of Jimmie Johnson and his talent ... but I'm pretty sure that three of his past four wins have had conflict with the cars being illegal. It's not necessarily good for the sport.

Chad's leadership is second to none. We really miss that. But then, it's also given us a chance to expand on our roles. We get to grow within our positions, and it makes us a tighter team. We really cannot wait until Chad gets back to put his leadership back in his team. Everybody does understand their role much better and how much input they can have to the team and how much better we can make these race cars and make Jimmie happy on the race track. You can see what Jimmie can do in the last two laps.

It is altogether fitting that we undertake this salute to Earl and Louise Scruggs. For decades, following in the tradition of Ralph Peer and Jimmie Rodgers, or Fred Rose and Hank Williams, they have formed one of country music's most productive musical and business partnerships. The path they have forged is very much in keeping with our Museum philosophy, which encourages an open-ended, broad-minded interpretation of the country music story.

Alyssa can be an exceptional college runner. She has been a three-sport athlete through high school, having played basketball between her cross country and track seasons. Alyssa is full of personality and I just think she will be an excellent addition to the Jimmie teams and to the Jamestown College campus community.

Major League Baseball is fortunate to have a man of Jimmie Lee's experience, intellect and dedication already on board to handle such a complex and important position as the chief of our baseball operations. Over the years, he has demonstrated considerable skill in working through the labyrinth of our minor league system. I have great confidence that he will be an enormous success in this key position.

Jimmie was called a hillbilly singer, but that was not his attitude, ... He really had a kind of Gene Vincent attitude and kind of an Elvis attitude. He was a drinker and partied, and he had that joy for life.

I am really happy. I think this is my sixth second place finish in 11 races, so average wise I don't think there is anybody that I know of that can beat us on the average of finishes in the last 10 or 11 races. So we are pretty proud of what this team has been able to accomplish here. It's been an awesome day. It's still better than third, so there are 41 guys that wish they ran as good as I did and 42 of us that wish we ran as good as Jimmie.

One thing Jimmie does do is help our defense. He usually gets a steal, here or there, and helps get our transition game going. He's always a capable scorer. He can reel off three, five or seven points in a row. Hopefully, we'll get him back to full strength real soon.

He closed the door, and I couldn't get back down in time. I committed myself high, and that gave Jimmie the win. I was just a matter of who was going to finish second.

Jimmie Johnson has been inching closer and closer the last three years (at Daytona). He's got a car that's capable, and he has a team that's very capable. He has the ability to take it upon himself to make the right moves down the stretch.
