    Basketball-wise, I see the original Thomas in him every time I watch him play. Sometimes it's like a dream that's just too real. Isiah will become a great player if he continues to lift weights and work in the off-season and do the things he needs to do. He's certainly not a finished product. He is just a sophomore and makes mistakes but he can hurt opposing teams in a variety of ways.

    There's not this pressure on them of seeing Larry Bird or Isiah Thomas or Jerry West circle the court like was the case last year. The impact they're going to have is now going to be in the college game.

    He was giving an opinion, maybe saying Isiah and Larry have different opinions. I don't know if that's derogatory. I'm telling you that we're on the same page. We're trying to win and we're trying to figure this out. He didn't tell me it was going to be easy when I got the job. And I'm finding that out.

    There is no magic wand to wave over this team to make them a contending team. (Isiah) will persevere through the rather difficult time now and you will see that people will be lauding his job later on. Now, they're looking at the record and going 'boo.' I don't blame them. I guess in some ways it's to be expected.

    I thought the effort at both ends of the court was there tonight, and I thought the teamwork was there. We're starting to get some guys back healthy, and Isiah (Anderson) is back in the rotation which helps stabilize things.

    So far, it's just a he-say, she-say kind of thing. I believe Isiah is innocent because he has always conducted himself in a professional manner. But charges like that, even when proven false, can still hurt you. When you have money and power and you're in the limelight, you're always a target for stuff like this.

    That doggone nose guard (Isiah Furlow) was really a problem. We were scared to death of Matt Aiken. We spent a lot of time on him, and the first time he takes the ball on the option, in he goes. But the rest of the night we did OK on him.
