Quotes about heisman (16 Quotes)

Cedric Benson, if we have the kind of year we're capable of having, could win the Heisman. Right now, we have potentially the best offensive line since we've been here. And I've never been around a quarterback who runs like Vince Young. So I think we're back on track.

Ron and I have known each other since college. I knew he was a (heck) of a player. You don't win the Heisman just because they want to give it to you. You win the Heisman because of what you do.

He threatens you in a lot of ways, and he also threatens you in the way he competes. That's the thing we have to emphasize to our team. Don't think at any moment that this guy is done. If he was 6-foot-1, they'd be talking about him as a Heisman candidate.

I can't imagine what he's going through as a freshman. I couldn't handle the attention last year when White won the Heisman, and he's getting more attention as a freshman than I was as a fifth-year senior.

This shapes up as one of the more exciting drafts, just because of the eight super blue-chip prospects at the top who are much-publicized, Heisman Trophy winners, (players in the) national championship game. Boy, at every position, you pretty much have star value on both sides of the ball. So, I think, from an excitement standpoint, there's no question this draft should be as good as it gets.

I think he's one of the great players ever to play college football. If he comes back next year, which we think he will, he'll have a great shot to win the Heisman.

I remember when I went there (on a recruiting visit) the coach (Steve Leach) said, 'Hey, man, you want a Heisman (Trophy) candidate throwing you the ball' That was Jason Thomas, I think, playing quarterback. I told them I didn't want to do that, and I ended up going to Iowa State.

That's stupid. All that is, is rationalization for Heisman voters manipulating the conversation to get the answer they had in mind, ... That's like saying old Heisman winners like Marcus Allen, they did it all themselves. ... We have a system. What, they didn't have a system everywhere else They just drew stuff up in the dirt I don't think so. If that is the case, then they need to fire all coaches.

I've heard he is just a terrific speaker. Any time we can get a local celebrity, in this case, someone who grew up in Fort Walton, played at Florida, won the Heisman, did all he did ... it's a grand slam for us.

Our offense will be the strongest part of our football team. That group will most likely dictate how we do this year. Garrett and A.J. will take a lot of the pressure off our quarterback, which will be great. Those two will make it easy. Our quarterback won't have to be a Heisman candidate he just has to lead the team.

He's one of the great players to ever play college football. He was the best player on any team this year. If he comes back, he's got a great chance to win the Heisman next year.

I won it last year and he deserved to win it. Obviously, his play on the field shows why he's the best college football player in the country. Playing really big in the big games and becoming more of a leader, he's a perfect description of a Heisman Trophy winner.
