    Fast-pitch is here. I think it's going to get better and better. It's amazing to see how many kids have gotten into it in such a short period of time, especially our girls with the success they had this year.


    As long as there is a demand for (slow-pitch), we're going to let them play. If things hold true to form as it has in other states though, fast-pitch will probably take over. I would say that probably will happen in four years.

    Successful pitching is reflected in the won-loss column. If our pitching staff performs well, our team as a whole will do well. Pitching is very important in the game of fast-pitch softball.

    I've always wanted to try a fast-pitch league, but I didn't know if it would go over. But I've talked a lot with Coach (Meg) Barnes about it, and I've had a lot of parents who have kept bringing up that it would be nice for us to have a feeder program.




    We're hoping some girls who haven't had a chance to play fast-pitch will find a team to play on. That's the biggest thing about this, especially for the 15 to 18-year-olds. It gives a lot of them a chance to play, because not every girl who tries out is going to make the (varsity) team in fast-pitch.

    We are probably 10 or 15 years behind. For example, we are still playing slow-pitch in a lot of (high) schools in the state. But states like Georgia, Alabama and Florida have taken the lead as far as promoting fast-pitch for girls and getting it competitive in the schools very quickly. We could jump five years ahead real quick.
