I did a theatrical musical, Annie Warbucks, when I was 11. We did a tour and we stopped by Los Angeles.
The movie's already exceeded any expectations I had. I think pleasing Annie Proulx, the writer, and getting her nod of approval was the biggest success for me, for us.
My idols are Janis Joplin and Annie Lennox, who are neither of them from the typical pop culture.

If you know anything about James Whitcomb Riley, you know that Little Orphan Annie is one of the most fantastic characters who ever lived in America before Charlie Chaplin.
They said this is Vanity Fair, and I said, Oh, I already take the magazine. They said Annie Leibovitz wants to take your picture and I thought, How nice!
Annie took a lot of time to be informed about programs she was interested in, and looked closely at the program's record of success, in addition to the academic offerings. Annie learned to respectfully communicate her interests or lack of interest to the many coaches who called her starting after her junior year last July. The experience was enlightening, and Annie had a good ability to control the situation and express her needs.
I took individual photographs of Annie Liebovitz, I kept taking her picture.
You'd look out and there'd be little babies watching the show, and boys and girls. They loved the cowboys, and they loved Annie. There were young people seeing the show for the first time. I stayed for two years because I enjoyed it so much.

The most important thing about Annie is that she has heart. She has a genuine affection for whatever she does.
Then I went through a big Peggy Lee stage, then I became Annie Ross, then Judy Collins.
