A sweet fragrance
a rousing chorus
the waves sang your praise
crashing on the rocks
just after the turn of the tides
coming in once more
the foretaste of high tide
hours from this moment
but coming to be sure
as sure as the tides
The waves sang your praise
and the wind joined in the chorus
bringing with it
a hint of the deep
the warming stones,
new wet from the breakers
a blending of the scents
below the cliff, at the water’s edge
