The prescience, the foreknowledge
allowing evil to profit
so were the words of the Messiah
before the meal in the upper room.
Speaking directly of the act of betrayal
with he who would do so in their midst
knowing the prophesy and the action begun
A pall over their night
a gauze of betrayal wrapped tightly
that Passover night
the wolf inside the lintels
the lamb aware of the slaughter.
