The apostles at His feet,
learning from God, directly
Studying with, under Jesus,
while he lived, walked with them
Hearing His message, His story,
woven with the law, the prophets,
the writings of old
Learning the nuance of the ancient law
the words made flesh, speaking to them
uncovering, unraveling the mysteries
if only they could hear them,
only understand,
in more than fleeting moments
the power of His word, spoken to them
They were like students, studying the Word
But they were lucky,
the Word spoke to them
directly, face to face, in person
