Palms in their hands
waving in the hot air
sights and sounds,
expectation, excitement
“Here he comes!”
the healer, the prophet,
the Messiah, a king
for the poor, for the people
triumphal entry
into the Holy City
a rain of cloaks, of robes
of palms
falling under his feet
carpeting the dusty road
cushioning the steps
of the royal parade
