Sitting in their pens
in the filth of the swine
hungry for food
eating the pods
the stuff of this earth
denying our father, our God
Even while we are there
in the pens of the swine
God giving himself for us
hoping we will turn to him
Going to the cross in our place
his arms open wide
Welcoming us if we turn to him
or letting us choose to die
