I lived on Dread —
To Those who know
The Stimulus there is
In Danger — Other impetus
Is numb — and Vitalless —
As ’twere a Spur — upon the Soul —
A Fear will urge it where
To go without the Sceptre’s aid
Were Challenging Despair.
