Strange things happened in the jail that night
While Paul and Silas were there.
They were fastened with chains
And the doors were locked.
The guards were watching with care.
At the stroke of twelve Paul’s songs rang out.
They praised God in song and prayer.
Then the earthquake came.
It opened the doors
And the chains dropped off,
Yet the jailers found them still there.
“Who are these men
That they do not leave?
And who is their God?” they raved.
“What must we do?” they begged of Paul.
“Believe in Jesus,” Paul said. “and you’re saved.”
