I wish that all the world was full
Of things that I could break or pull,
Of leaden soldiers, sailing-boats,
and castles great with mossy moats.
Of bread and jam and butterflies,
And cannons of enormous size
Of spears and armour shining bright
And all the weapons of a knight,
Of clock-work trains with heaps of rails,
And dragons with enormous scales.
I wish the day would never end
For all the things that I’d pretend.
