I think it's going to be a good test for us to see where we are.

    I like the format as it is both challenging and creative. It provides us the opportunity to test our competitiveness throughout the weekend and keeps us on our toes. I believe it is taking place at the right time of the season as our guys continue to improve competing at a high level.


    Against Davis, our level of play went up a notch. The guys got a lot of the jitters out in the morning and responded really, really well in such a short time since we played back-to back matches. I was happy for the freshmen to get their dual matches out of the way.

    Everyone was really anxious to get the season started. To get those two matches under our belts was really good.

    It's nice to see that our recruiting efforts are being noticed and in company with a lot of very good tennis programs. We've made a commitment to competing with the top schools because we strongly feel that Santa Clara has so much to offer and is a great place for the college tennis experience. We have a solid nucleus of players that have the potential to accomplish many things and it depends on how we go about bringing it to reality.

    The first part of our season was very demanding with lots of tough matches and travel too. Experiencing that can only help our team improve and learn more about what it takes to compete at this level of college tennis. I'm looking forward to the next phase of our season leading up to Spring Break. We should be fresh and ready to go.

    Cal Poly is a feisty team. We have always had intense battles with them and the home team has come away victorious the last four years. Their team is pretty well experienced and deep. John Nguyen has had a solid year with impressive wins at the top position.

    I expect this match to be tight just as our last match was here at home back in February. The final score may have indicated otherwise, but we're not expecting anything but a battle. It should be fun.

    This will be the first time we compete against both Montana State and Idaho. Montana has been nationally ranked so they've proven that they can win at any level. I believe this match will be very important for us as it will impact our energy on the final day against Idaho.

    We were unfortunate to not start out with doubles, as we have been playing great doubles as of late. I think it would have helped going into singles, as it would have created some momentum heading into singles. Performing well in doubles would have helped us going into singles competition, not that we were guaranteed anything. They made us play and were the better team today. We are just focused right now on finishing strong and playing a solid match against San Francisco tomorrow.

    The Gaels are riding a good streak of matches and competing well. They have a crafty team of players and it's going to be tough to play them in Moraga.

    We played very solid tennis today in doubles and singles. That has given us the opportunity to move one step closer to the final. San Diego is a very good team and we'll have to be at the top of our game again to secure a victory.
