I think this is a good example of why many colleges and high schools have de-emphasized class rank. It's part of the education process that doesn't involve education.
He's a great teacher. He's doing a great job preparing us for college. He's exposed us to different types of tests (including those in which students identify specimens from microscopes).
They're stuck in a limbo where they can't get formal employment and they can't go on to college. At best, they become part of the underground economy. At worst they become a liability.
