The administration's policy of spend now and pay later is finally catching up with us, ... With no regard for fiscal restraint, the administration has led us into a war that we cannot pay for, pushed legislation that we cannot afford, while borrowing billions of dollars from foreign countries at the same time.
The world has changed greatly since the end of the Cold War. It is imperative that our security priorities reflect these changes. We have witnessed recent cooperation between the United States and Russia that is unparalleled since World War II. However, September 11, 2001, proved without question that a new set of threats to this nation exist and that we must be prepared to deal with them.
As someone who has seen war first hand, and as a father of three young adults, it was my hope that we could have resolved this conflict and disarmed Saddam Hussein without war. However, this was not the case.
