Quotes about twinkle (16 Quotes)

There is one kind of laugh that I always did recommend it looks out of the eye first with a merry twinkle, then it creeps down on its hands and knees and plays around the mouth like a pretty moth around the blaze of a candle, then it steals over into the dimples of the cheeks and rides around in those whirlpools for a while, then it lights up the whole face like the mellow bloom on a damask rose, then it swims up on the air, with a peal as clear and as happy as a dinner-bell, then it goes back again on gold tiptoes like an angel out for an airing, and it lies down on its little bed of violets in the heart where it came from.

THE PHILOSOPHER I saw him sitting in his door, Trembling as old men do His house was old his barn was old, And yet his eyes seemed new. His eyes had seen three times my years And kept a twinkle still, Though they had looked at birth and death And three graves on a hill. 'I will sit down with you,' I said, 'And you will make me wise Tell me how you have kept the joy Still burning in your eyes.' Then like an old-time orator Impressively he rose 'I make the most of all that comes, The least of all that goes.' The jingling rhythm of his words Echoes as old songs do, Yet this had kept his eyes alight Till he was ninety-two.

I wanderd lonely as a cloud That floats on high oer vales and hills, When all at once I saw a crowd, A host, of golden daffodils Beside the lake, beneath the trees, Fluttering and dancing in the breeze. Continuous as the stars that shine And twinkle on the Milky Way, They stretchd in never-ending line Along the margin of a bay Ten thousand saw I at a glance, Tossing their heads in sprightly dance. The waves beside them danced but they Out-did the sparkling waves in glee A poet could not but be gay, In such a jocund company I gazedand gazedbut little thought What wealth the show to me had brought For oft, when on my couch I lie In vacant or in pensive mood, They flash upon that inward eye Which is the bliss of solitude And then my heart with pleasure fills And dances with the daffodils.
