Ryan Palmer Quotes (11 Quotes)

I hope he does. He's too good a player to be going through this. He just needs to catch a break.

If I go out and play well, shoot 3-, 4-, 5-under par and get to 20-under, it's going to be hard for anybody to get there without shooting a low round. I want to try to focus on what I have to shoot and keep playing the way I've been playing. I have a good feeling you have to get to at least 18-under to win this golf tournament.

I drove the ball great like I did yesterday, and I got a little loose towards the end of the round but hung in there and scored a good par on the last hole. I'm very comfortable where I'm at. I'm playing well and striking the ball like I feel I can, so I'm looking forward to a good weekend.

It's just become a norm out here. It's just amazing how fast the golf courses can change these days. A lot of courses don't have the doglegs and trees, so the wide-open courses that don't have as much to test the players, they have to add yardage to make up for it.

That route has been the traditional path to the Tour -- slowly working one's way up through lesser levels of competition. Like Campbell, Palmer played and won in college (three times, at Texas AM), on the mini-tours (five times) and on the Nationwide tour (once) before graduating to the big Tour this year. I've been through it, ... I've won on every level, so I knew I could come in here and do it.

You can sit back and say anybody within six shots can win this golf tournament. I've been there before and come back from five to win. There's got to be a low number shot for one of those guys to come back.

It's not a done deal. A lot of these degraded streams are going to take a long time to get back to a pristine level, if at all.

The connections to Campbell don't end there. Like Campbell a year ago, the 28-year-old Palmer is a fearless player from West Texas who's largely unknown outside Tour circles. In fact the two (and their caddies) played high school golf in the same conference and have been friends for years. He goes at a lot of pins too, ... We also took the same route to get here.

To come back to a golf course you shoot 21-under-par on, you have a good feeling. Remembering some things that happened last year, I'm looking forward to it.

He's good. He'll be fun to watch. He's quick. His shot is quick. It's a tough task for anybody.

That's the way I played the hole all week. The way I've been driving it, I had plenty of confidence I could hit the fairway.
