Matt Kenseth Quotes (80 Quotes)

I feel bad because the team got me in front and we got beat in the last corner. You always worry about the guy getting a run on you. Jimmie did a great job. But I don't feel like I could have done anything different. I think I did everything I could, short of wrecking.

Our performance has been up and our finishes have been a little bit better, so I think everybody has been a little bit more excited the last couple of months, ... I think your goals are to try and win every week, and I think when you're running better in general it's probably a little bit less of a grind and everybody is more excited to get to the track when you're running good.

If I thought he was gonna try to take a swing at me or something like that, I probably wouldn't have gone over there.

We have made up a lot of points, but we still have to get in tomorrow.

There are certainly days that you go through and do something dumb, and you can't figure out what to put in the car. There are days here you feel you are not doing as good as you should be. It just goes up and down. Through the years you definitely learn more, and I think on average make smarter decisions.

I thought we were out of it. There are still a couple of races to go. We'll see what we can do.

Jack has done a great job with this organization and given us strong cars. It showed again today. Greg (Biffle) had the dominant car and I felt bad for him.

I hate green-white-checker finishes just because they are so nerve-wrecking. I spun the tires a little and they said 'Jimmie is outside' and I was just holding on trying to get a run off the corner.

I'm just really disappointed. I thought (NASCAR president) Mike Helton did a great job all week explaining it in the drivers' meeting that it was about aggressive driving and not necessarily bump drafting. Tony took me out intentionally.

It's so tight right there that I think you've just got to go through things that you know how to do. If we're in it at the end of the day, great, we've made a great comeback. If we're not in it at the end of the day, we still made a great comeback and gave it our best. So as long as we walk away Saturday night knowing we did our best, that's all you can ask for.

I really have to thank Greg Biffle, we didn't do a qualifying run today and we took a lot of his stuff. That's a great lap for us.

I don't think I could've caught him with eight tires to tell you the truth, he was so fast at the end. There's now way we could've run any quicker than we were.

If you couldn't make it to hospitality, he'd fill in for you. If you needed somebody to draft with at the track, he was out there. If you needed a little extra room on the track, he'd give it to you. Just all that stuff makes a good teammate. He was good

Compared to the competition, I was pretty happy with the car the way it drove and what our speeds were.

I didn't think we had a chance to make the Chase, but we've run much better and the guys that have been around us in points have had some trouble and maybe haven't run as well the second half of the year and had some things happen to them, too. We're not in it yet we still have another week to go.

I think it will perform the same at California. Now that doesn't mean you can't have a flat tire or a bad pit stop or a broken part ... but I do think that we'll go there and be competitive enough to run up front, and, hopefully, challenge for a win.

It's been like 10 races or something since we've had a top 10, so we've got to crawl before we can walk, ... At least we finished today and got a decent finish for how bad we ran.

We didn't really run as good as I expected today, we just got real tight, ... We couldn't fix it a little bit like our Busch car, so we've got to be real happy. We had the pole and finished fifth and that was cool that Mark and those guys won. I would have liked to have run a little bit better than we did, but overall it was a good day.

We struggled with our Busch car a lot today, but at the end of practice I think everybody worked on it.

It's frustrating, but there's not a lot you can really do about it, ... It's not going to do any good to get mad or do anything else. You just got to keep working on it. Everybody is working on the cars as hard as they can work on them. They've been testing and trying to get the stuff better. We know we have the equipment to do it we just have to keep working on it and figure out what we need to make the cars go fast.

It means a lot. This base group has been together for a long time and they do an awesome job every week. Our performance has been better and you knew we had a fast car when we're on the pole and for me to qualify as fast. Our DeWalt Ford was awesome all day. I'm just so thankful to have the opportunity to drive these race cars. It's a lot of fun.

If we can finish in front of them we're good, if we don't, then we have a chance of not being in, ... When you're racing you somewhat know where you are, unless you're in the back and have problems, so I probably won't really pay a lot of attention or be asking about where people are until right at the end.

I'm looking forward to heading back out to California this weekend. We had a good run there early in the year. We ran in the top ten for much of the day until we cut a tire down late in the race. This team really has a lot of momentum right now. We've been running well, posting some good finishes and, of course, are coming off of our first win of the season.

He's probably had more fun the last three or four or five years than he did the first couple of years I knew him. Mark's awesome. He's one of the best in the garage, and if you can get him the right stuff, he's going to be hard to beat.
