Luis Carmona Quotes (19 Quotes)

I'm proud of the guys even though we lost. Success a lot of times doesn't get measured with wins. I mean, in the second half they knew they could do it and they came out and performed. I think if they had done that the entire game, it would've been a different story.

What I've been trying to tell the guys all this week is they're here now and this is when you've got to perform. I was watching TV and saw a quote from the George Mason (basketball coach). He said it's not just about getting in the dance. It's about performing there, and you've got to win.

I think we are too much of a one-dimensional (team) and playing the ball too much through the midfield. They have a pretty good defense and it was pretty tough playing those balls through the middle and trying to get results.

We started feeling a little bit of pressure and we got anxious and started clearing the ball instead of working it. That goal they got was an unlucky break and that's one thing we need to learn from this.

We're trying to get the ball rolling at the same time. That's the No. 1 concern. I want all 11 players to be on the same page. Right now it's four on one page and another four on another.

The guys came out and they played hard. I think they're liking the success they're having right now and hopefully that continues until the playoffs. At least we've got another game, which is big.

I think we're all right, but the guys learned a hard lesson Friday night. They just didn't like the feeling that they played well and came out with a loss. Now they really know the importance of capitalizing on every opportunity that presents itself.

The guys just came out great, and I've been telling them all week that it's just mental. I think those two days we had off this week were a good confidence builder. We just talked about the mental part of the game and even had a motivational speaker come out and I think that was a big plus.

We can't rush into things, and the guys don't need to put any extra pressure on themselves, either. They just need to relax, and 8 o'clock Friday night will come by itself. The No. 1 thing is they need to have confidence in what we're trying to do and establish (with the program).

Putting two games back to back where we played well actually says a lot. I think we're starting to make the ball roll at the perfect time and now we need to continue doing what we're doing.

He's a great keeper, and he shouldn't be ashamed of anything. I was just real proud of my guys for keeping their heads up and having confidence in themselves against him.

That's the beauty of this team. We made some adjustments and put some people on top because anybody can play any position, even the forwards and in the midfield. We just have to have confidence in each other.

We are very happy that the company finally came back to the table to actually negotiate so that we could reach this agreement.

I had a long talk with the guys that the entire school year just comes down basically to one week. I think we're focused on our objective right now, and the bottom line is we just need to win. If we just take care of our own business, we're OK, and I think we're capable of that.

I actually thought we'd come back after halftime with a little bit more fire because we had a pretty good talk.

We didn't show up and they came out to perform like the No. 1 team in the district that they are. I guess that's a bad combination, coming out and not playing and having the best team in district come into town.

That was huge, especially against a good team like Lee and the tough keeper they have. They're a great all-around team, so don't take anything away from them. We had to perform and we did and we came out with the victory.

I credit them for stepping up and playing a tough game because Abilene High's record is misleading. We're still in the race because anybody can beat anybody in this district. We just have to take care of our own business and try to finish up the second half 6-0. I think a lot of it right now is getting the confidence and morale back up in the guys.

Just the way we gave up the goals, mistakes that we couldn't clear. It was like there were three different teams at one point out there. It was an all-around performance nobody played up to their expectations.
