    Mikael has been a key player throughout this season and earned the opportunity to stay in Detroit. I'm happy to have him signed and to be able to keep in him a Red Wings jersey for the next three seasons.

The new CBA has been put into place to level the playing field, but you know what At the end of 82 games, somebody has to be in first overall.
