    I would focus on very high-quality companies in this environment.     There is almost a state of euphoria for the group. We don't have a strong current interest in the group at this time. With highly cyclical stocks, they can crest ahead of earnings.

    Some things just didn't make it through the whole process. Thirty days is a short period of time.

    I never hoped that the market will go down. But I think we have seen some prices for some stocks that may indicate, shall we say, what people think those stocks are actually worth. The interest rate increases to date have had an effect and we're seeing some earnings disappointments at some companies and that has investors concerned. But on the other hand, we have the mergers and acquisitions that tend to buoy up the prices in whatever sectors affected from one day to the next and that will keep investors interested in stocks certainly.

    I think the focus will shift toward corporate profits. Whether they (the Fed) raise rates a quarter point or not, I think it's not going to be the main focus of investors' attention. People are going to be watching the earnings pretty closely .
