Jack Parker Quotes (66 Quotes)

To tell you the truth, we were playing so well, I didn't think we would lose the game. But I liked our heart and our effort both nights. I liked our heart and our effort and our poise with the puck and our playmaking ability tonight.

BC jumped their game up a notch or two. In every other game we played them, I believe we controlled a lot of the game. We didn't control any of this game. We were a step behind.

I think everybody thought that this might be a down year for them because they were playing so many younger kids, but they're getting fabulous goaltending and their upperclassmen are playing very well. They've had a terrific run.

I think they had had enough with what we did to them. There was a lot of talk that we had to beat BC five times. No, we didn't. We had to beat them once to get to the final four.

Both games are huge for us. We've kind of climbed out of the back seat and into the driver's seat a little bit as far as home-ice advantage is concerned in our league, and a chance to make the national tournament on our own merits. This will make a big statement for us.

Our kids remember what that felt like. Nothing would make us happier than to return the favor. Our kids are excited to play in Wimberley, they love the turf, it helps with speed.

We haven't had two shorthanded goals in a long time. But this team has given up shorthanded goals. I think Northeastern has three shorthanded goals against them. I don't know what that is.

I thought we played our best hockey both nights in the third period. I thought we played a better game last night than we did tonight, but we come back and wound up finding a way to win without folding once they got the tying goal again.

Was I surprised Absolutely. This team has given us everything we've needed. Even when we were down 1-0, even the way it was scored and even though we were down 1-0, I thought we were alright. We got out of the period 1-0, and I thought we'd be OK. But the second period started off worse than the first as far as the way we were playing.

We can't be worrying about that. The only thing we can do is worry about taking care of business for ourselves and see what happens.

We're probably the only team that has a chance at catching BC, but it's probably not going to happen. There are still too many points to make up ... and a whole bunch of teams have a chance at home-ice BU, Providence, UNH, Vermont and Maine - there's five teams going for the other three spots. It's a battle.

The thing that jumped out at me most all weekend was how hard Northeastern played against us, what a great effort they made in both games. We had to really dig deep in the third period to win both games.

He was a little taken aback a little bit at the beginning of the year confidence-wise and playing people in the corners and controlling people the way he can now. But he gave us a good freshman year. It wasn't like he wasn't ready to play. And he's gotten better and better as it's gone along.

We've had good years, we've been in the finals, ... It's a hard tournament to win. It's a hard tournament to get to. So we're here, let's take advantage of it.

He's been playing very well since then -- he wasn't getting numbers but he was playing well. I thought he wasn't moving his feet, I thought he was being too cute, too clever. And he is pretty clever, but his game is skate first because that's what you have to do in this league, and I think there's no question that he's been playing much better.

The shuttle was temporary to make up for all the parking being used for construction.

He earned some time tonight, that's for sure. He's obviously back in the mix.

We've had some off years but not very many and we've had many, many years where we've had guys you can absolutely depend upon in being if not the star of the team, a solid part of the team. It's just so important. They say 70 percent of baseball is pitching then 80 percent of hockey is goaltending.

I remember him telling me he was a linebacker at the Kent School in high school. And he'd be fending guys off and making tackles during the course of a football game and come Monday, his forearms would be so swelled up, he couldn't hold a pen. He just thought he wasn't tough enough.

We were so flat it was like we were going out to play an exhibition game or scrimmage game against ourselves, and UNH came out to play a hockey game,

They were trying to be too clever, they were worried about getting goals. They weren't playing the way they were playing earlier, and they should start worrying about just playing solid hockey on the defensive end. Play hard, and the puck will go in the net for you.

It's a 3-on-3 for BU, then all the sudden it's a 3-on-1. It's a 3-on-2 for BU, all the sudden it's a 2-on-1. It was bad reads by us, it was stepping up at the wrong time. I don't think you saw anywhere near as hard as UNH had to play. They didn't have to play, we gift wrapped it for them. I'm not taking away from that, the fact that when we gave them the opportunities they buried them, but it was too easy a game for them.

I think he's one of the premier defensemen in this league. It's not just the numbers he's putting up. It's how much ice time he gets, the confidence he gives the team. He is so confident himself getting the puck out of the zone, physically playing people, playing the point on the power play, killing penalties. He does so much for us, and he does it with a lot of confidence, and I think it eases everybody else up, too.

The second period was one of our best periods of college hockey in a long, long time. It has to be that good to hold BC to the number of shots we held them to.

I was flabbergasted that Chris Higgins played as well as he did. That John McCarthy played as well as he did. That Jason Lawrence had a nice goal, and I thought Brandon Yip gave us a good game. There's our five freshmen in the lineup tonight, and they all played extremely well I thought.

Well, they all have computers so they knew we were going to get a No. 1 seed before the morning started.

I thought he was our best player. He moved the puck well, he made some real clever passes. He also made some plays where he was getting in himself, using his own speed.

We're gonna go on a losing streak, too, because that's the way this league is. It's difficult to be sharp for a long period of time. I understand that. I'm not thinking everybody should be perfect. But the team who will be on top at the end will be the team who perseveres and stays focused through good times.

I would be surprised if two or three of these guys aren't real important to us as the season progresses, ... They all have a different look Yip with the rocket shot, Higgins with his quickness and Lawrence, control and they'll all get different types of ice time, too.

I thought that Boston College played extremely well in the first period. We played kind of tentative, I thought.

I always tell our players I know I can't make you creative, but I also know I can take your creativity away by making you feel like you have to play like a robot. I don't want to do that. So I'm glad MacArthur made that move at the blue line.

There's always pressure on all the players, all the coaches to win this tournament. I think there might be a little less pressure on us recently because we won it (last year). It's not like we haven't won it in five years and we got to get going here. So I don't really think it's that big an effect. It's a new team every year. It's a new tournament every year. It's two games. Anybody can win it. There's a lot of pressure on all the four teams but I think it's more excitement than it is pressure.

I think that was the goal that took the wind out of our sails. I was really hoping they'd call that one back.

I give Rooney a lot of credit. He's been struggling with the puck the last couple of months, then he makes All-Tournament team, so good for him.

I think we'll get a boost out of beating BC in the Hockey East final. We usually get a boost out of beating BC anyway, but psychologically having garnered a bit of hardware already this year is nice for them. But it's all about winning championships, and the Northeast Regional is the only one that's in reach now. Two games to win another championship, but it will be a battle to get through this field, that's for sure.

I think this team's a little bit more balanced and a little bit more poised than we had the last couple times, ... We're not relying on any one guy or any one line, and I think we're a little bit more solid defensively than we've been, and that's what usually wins.

He's not overtired 'cause he's had three weeks off. He's just got to be truthful to us and to the trainer about how his shoulder's feeling. It's 100 percent as far as he's not going to get reinjured, but he could stretch out for a puck and it give him some pain.

He played ... well, he didn't have to play a great game tonight. We really didn't test him. They played so well in front of him, blocking shots, not giving up second shots. But he was still good.

As of yesterday, I was sure he wasn't gonna play.

The question is, what's gonna make this better than last year The only thing that can make it better is to somehow win a championship in these next two tournaments.

It was a great college hockey game. The emotions were great.

Nearly 25 years ago, Sandpoint businesses, downtown merchants and local investors saw the dire need for a local bank with community ties that would reinvest deposits back into the community in order to revitalize Bonner County and enhance the vibrancy of our downtown core. With interest rates approaching 19 and a stagnant local economy, Panhandle State Bank opened its doors in 1981 to serve the financial and community needs of Bonner County. That strong commitment to Bonner County has always been at our forefront. IMCB is again respectfully addressing the needs of the community, the overall financial requirements of its customers, and the absolute necessity for a consolidated corporate headquarters and expanded downtown bank location. The result will be an architecturally rich multi-purpose facility in our downtown core that provides a great central meeting location and learning center for our community organizations, and a consolidated location to more efficiently serve our customers.

I'm not surprised. It's just a matter of time before big-city crime happens here.

BC is the favorite, ... They're the only one that has a winning record against everybody else ... I do believe they're the best team in the nation, not just the best team in the league.

They're playing great. Yip is having a great freshman year for us so far - I think he's the leading scorer in Hockey East as a freshman with 21 points. Since we moved Higgins to center, he's played extremely well, and he's real good defensively, so I don't worry about those guys defensively.

I thought getting that first goal helped us get jacked up a bit.

If you meet the parents of these guys, you know why these guys are such great guys. Really nice people, really know how to keep things in perspective. No big egos, nobody worrying about 'What about my kid What about my kid's ice time' That plays right to

That was a sad performance by the Boston University hockey team, ... It was beyond belief how poorly we played in every phase of the game ... It was as bad a performance as we've had since the Lefty Mcfadden Tournament the first two games of the year 5-1 and 7-2 losses to Miami University and the University of Michigan, respectively. The first two periods looked just like that. We looked like we didn't know what we were doing.

There was no investment because the university paid the Brazos Transit by the hour.

I really believe that Ricky DiPietro was one of the few, if not the only, goalie in college hockey that people wanted to go to the game and watch him. In that one year he played, he was absolutely fabulous.
